Bailout plan voted down!

Failed Bush economic policy? Wreckless anything economic policy? The party is over? I made it 2 minutes on the video before I puked. How many Republicans warned us this was going to happen (Mac and Mae crisis) in 04 ans 05? And how may Democrats said then there was no problem?

Come to me with a market-based solution and I will support it. Come to me with your hand out asking for nearly a trillion dollars of additional debt then I will not support it.

I know we are in for some very hard times but that bill was not the answer. I doubt that our congress can actually craft a solution as they are now just pointing fingers. Pelosi kills me. She is talking about bipartisanship and in the same breath she points the finger at the Republicans. She couldn't rally more than 60% of her own troops.

Well Kurt, what do you propose they come up with that is a "market based" solution to use your description?

The debt the government (and us) would have assumed was also based on assets which should appreciate in value over time and should allow the government to re-coup the debt and maybe even make a profit. In the meantime nothing else will stabilize the market. The market will continue it's knee jerk reactions through out the world destabilizing the world economy even further. And the "main street" folks who opposed this bill are precisely the ones who will be hurt the most. In that regard, I think the bill that was proposed was a market based solution. My criticism is our President, our would be Presidents, and our Congressional leaders did a poor job of explaining the need for the bill and why mainstream middle class Americans needed it as well.

So, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Well, a few mistakes first off. Nancy missed that Newt Gingrinch's Contract with America gave us a budget surplus and a growing economy. Clinton was giving us ... the same thing he gave Monica. The economy was heading downhill by early 2000, after feeling the effects of Clinton's tax increase. The downhill run accelerated after the terrorist attacks. Nancy and her boys completely forgot about them.

Bush had and has no economic plan. What little he did do, were half-hearted efforts, like his temporary tax cut. Bush signed into law hundreds of new spending proposals. He vetoed not one spending plan in seven years. Pelosi is well justified in saying Bush helped to run the economy into ruin. The republicans held both congressional chambers, and they helped with the ruin.

Algore, Kerry, and Osama would certainly be worse. But that doesn't mean that it has been remotely close to good.

Best regards,
Frank

Yeah... I really wish for the good ole' dot.com bubble days...

I won't piss it away this time... really...

I really miss those days when a pair of 20 year-olds with any silly idea that "advertising will pay for it" could get a several million VC dollars. Ahhhhhh

Ask and you shall receive.

Thank Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner for the Washington Times article where he writes, "As a rule, Congress is good at two things: (1) Doing nothing at all. (2) Overreacting."

Best regards,
Frank

Full disclosure: I've been a dues paying member of Heritage for decades.

She looked like a scared ghost at their press conference afterward. Surely someone took her aside and said "What the *$#% were you thinking?". Barney mouth-full-of-poop Frank would not let her answer when a reporter asked "why did you do that."

Gary, that is not poop in Barney Frank's mouth:wow::smt018

I read the article Frank and except for this statement it doesn't really tell me much in regards to what's a good alternative.

"Better they should quickly pass a limited rescue package that stabilizes the market, then proceed to remove the regulatory meddling that helped create this mess in the first place. That's the best way to prevent future turmoil and protect taxpayers."

Even then the author doesn't really define what a "quick rescue package" to stabilize the market might look like. I don't doubt for one minute that the plan that was put before the House today probably wasn't perfect but at least it would have stabilized the market.

I guess we will all have to wait and see what round two brings us up on the Hill.

I just think Nancy Pelosi needs to get her butt kicked to the curbside. She just looks and sounds like a stupid angry old bitch with a bad overbite.... Sorta like the look of a mother when you knock her daughter up.

I tell you what needs mouth wash... not your water tank... every time she said "Seven HUUUUUUNDRED billion dollars," I could smell her breath down here in Williamsburg. That thing needs a pressure washer taken to it.

Well if Congress won't bail out Wall Street maybe they could send a few bucks my way.

I may need it to keep on boating. Let's see do I spend money for food this week or gas for the boat?

Maybe if I eat Macaroni and Cheese every day this week I can buy a few gallons of gas for the boat too. That's if I can find gas since only 1 in 6 stations in Charlotte have any.:smt021:smt021

I wish there were gas in 1 of 6 stations. We have 15 gas stations within probably a 10 mile radius of my house all of which are out of gas.

I am sure we will get something at some point. I just hope it is not full of stupid regulations but I am sure it will be.

Wesley

Maybe we could ask Congress to subsidize our prices here as well. Have you seen any 87 octane regular under $4 a gallon? And can I come over to your house to eat next week? My cupboard is looking bare while the folks up on the Hill continue to eat steak dinners.

This whole thing can be traced to the democrats in congress. If Obama wins the election the 2 whack jobs Pelosi and Reid will have carte Blanche with this country. Obama will sign anything they put on his desk. Get ready for slave reparations.

Well, it can't be too bad... congress is taking the next two off... :smt021
