Anyone wanna talk about boats?

Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it. Do you think the prop guys are the best folks to talk to or do you think Sea Ray or the dealer?

I would say that Sea Ray would be the best bet. They should have it on file what props they put on your boat when new and what props they put on the same boat with the 8.1 engines. Because of the different torque curve (more torque at lower rpm) for the 8.1 you can bet that you can use a different prop. Also do the new transmissions have a different gear ratio? You should now have the zf with a 2.5 reduction. If your old engines had borg warner gears then their gear ratios would be slightly different also.

Still at 2.5 to 1. Dealer says the props are the exact same on 7.4 410DA and 8.1 410DA.

I'll probably contact Sea Ray to confirm.

Hey Guys...

Sorry to hear that winter is effecting you like that but for me, i am just getting started.

Gearing up for the winter here in the Cayman Islands means making sure you have enough beer and that there isn't going to be an issue getting your vacation time for the beginning of Dec.

Also making sure that internet access is available when i am on the sound so that i don't miss my beloved GATORS on Saturdays.

Yup, Yup boating in Grand Cayman is hell but what r ya gonna do?

Rick, can you give me the cliff notes on Rudee INlet, Oregon inlet and the next one below Oregon.

We transited your area last week, went into rudee 2 different times and no problems other than that dredger taking up half the channel.

WE heard both Oregon and the other were no nos for us.

WE left rudee last thursday and when we rounded Cape Hatteras, the fun was over, and the 5-7s on the nose made it miserable.

Have you been into Oregon and the other inlets with no problems?
