Hi,
My names Chris, Fairly new to boating, been on the site a little while mostly just soaking up peoples useful information and tips. I could use some more of that useful information myself today.
Had bad winds last night night here in ohio. Tied off to the dock where they just added 2 new posts for stability and the are about 18" higher than all the others and sit about 3 inches lower than the top of my bow railing. No breakwall or really any type of protection where I dock as it is a small 4000acre lake. So when we do get bad weather we are pretty much in the open. last night 1-3 ft waves at the dock and 50mph wind had the boat listing back and forth so much the bow railing got over the post and when it came back one the other way one of the arms that hold the railing up and in place pulled out of the center of the piece screwed to the deck.
Can anyone give me any good place to start looking for an arm for the bow railing of a 1978 26' DA. The upper section, the actual railing, seems to be ok but one of the arms where it attachs to the deck pulled off and broke where it was screwed. No fiberglass damage all 3 of the bottle are still there just the very center pulled out. i dont know if this is a design feature not to damage fiberglass?? Sorry, I dont have a picture and its 3rd from the stern on the port side if that make a difference.
Thanks for advance for any help.
Happy boating!
Chris
