American Flag Not Allowed

Arizona is getting blasted for pointing out what the Federal Government is NOT doing - maybe this will get Congress on target?! Good to pass this one around!

This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help it will get published via cyberspace!

> My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to 'print' it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

> So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
>
> Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States , people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented . Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

> They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
>
>
>
> Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the E mperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people.

> When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

> And here we are in 2009 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules; one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

I sent it on. I see you have 2 sons/daughters serving our country. I will pray for their safety.

Thank you, My son and his wife are serving in the USAF. My son is on his way home from Afganistan here is a note I got yesturday.

family - huge smiles today as it was my last day in AFG and I'm currently in Krygyzstan. Nice, cool, trees, grass.... so much green!

If I had to do it again I would - very proud to have served in that place in this time in history, but extremely excited about getting home. Thank you for the prayers, notes, and boxes. Unless the volcano delays me I should be on US soil on the 16th and in SLC early afternoon on the 17th. Yes the stress has drained from my face...the only thing that happens here is the occasional government overthrow! :)
Love you all and hope to see yo soon!

My friend if Arizona had an ocean I would be out of this leftist State of California in a second. I spent many years in law enforcement and had to watch the demise of this beautiful State go down due to the illegal immigration problem. This "State" will lay-off teachers, police, fire, and other crucial services but not cut one red cent to welfare or illegals no matter what country they come from. I am a true patriot and welcome anyone who wants to come to the United States LEGALLY along with wanting to become an American that wants to continue the tradition of this once great country. I know one thing for sure is that if this country, God forbid, ever had to go to war like we did in WW II these illegals would run back to mexico like a pack of rats if they were attempted to be drafted. They would never be willing to fight or protect this country.

As for California following Arizonas new laws, all the candidates running for office are jumping on the wagon promising to end all benefits for illegals.......yet to be seen but the wave for illegal reform is growing and getting stronger day by day across the country.

God bless your son and his wife along with my respect for their service to OUR country ( written in English). My step-son is going over seas in November and Im worried sick about his safety. After spending countless years in law enforcement , Im more worried about his safety and the ONE year he has to commit to a president, and government, that doesnt support his mission.

These are posts regarding an article in the May 10th. issue of Newsweek that gave a fair broad picture of the
current situation in Arizona. REALLY INTERESTING! No one mentions a Federal Law Enforcement Agency!

Subject: Mexican Standoff

Mexican Standoff
Don't blame Arizonans—or immigrants—for the state's draconian new law.

  • Arizona has outraged the nation with a new immigration law that obligates authorities to check the documents of anyone they believe is in the country illegally, based on a "reasonable suspicion" during a "lawful" stop.

Newsweek, get a clue. The law AZ. passed is wildly popular with 65-70% of real America. In fact I'd hazard to guess that most people feel it doesn't go far enough. Draconian my a$$.

  • I have lived in Phoenix for over 30 years. My neighborhood has become little Mexico in the last 5 years. I am married to a Hispanic man and have 2 beautiful children, so don???t call me racist, but the change to this city is disturbing. My kids go to a charter school because more Spanish is spoken at their public school than English. I have to drive by through a gauntlet of Mexican men standing in the parking lot waving at me to pick them up in the Home Depot/Walmart parking lot, like a woman in a red minivan needs a day laborer. My niece can???t get a job flipping burgers in our area because bilingual people (barely bilingual, by the way) are hired over monolingual. Other family members are turned down for simple receptionist jobs because they aren???t bilingual.

460,000 illegals live in Arizona. Census Bureau says there are 6,595,778 people in Arizona, so close to 7 percent of the population is here illegally? I believe it, I really do.

Read the actual law, not the interpretation of the media. It is drafted after the Federal law and gives law enforcement the ability to ask about legal status ONLY AFTER a stop for another issue. In other words, they have to be suspected of violating another law before they can be questioned about their status. Possession of an AZ drivers license is sufficient to prove you are here legally because you can???t get a drivers license in AZ unless you are here legally.

The police will not turn into the Gestapo. They do not have the time, energy or desire to become the immigration police. Think about it. There are only so many officers on the street at any one time. If they arrest someone, they have to take them to the station, book them and that whole ordeal takes time away from what they are really supposed to be doing; protecting us from harm. They have to spend their time where it does the most good, not patrolling the streets, rounding up suspected illegals. Drop houses, well that???s a different story, but the lady walking her kids to school has nothing to fear from the Phx PD.

Please come here legally so you don???t fear calling the PD or Fire department when you need help. Please come here legally so you can get your own social security card and not try to use mine (yes, that happened to us). Please come here legally so you set a good example for your kids. Please come here legally and learn the language and do not expect me to learn yours. If you can???t live by our laws, go home.

    • The 800 lb. gorilla in the living room that everyone tries to ignore is the simple fact that 81% (or more) of ALL illegal aliens are from Mexico or Latin America. 57% come from Mexico alone. This is according to a study done last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, hardly a hotbed of anti-Latino sentiment. We are being invaded by Latin America: it really is that simple! They are trying to turn the American southwest into a Spanish-speaking Quebec, with all the separatism that implies. As this poster said, it is difficult to find a job if you don't speak Spanish; English apparently is optional! How long until these invaders simply push out anyone who is "white" and English-speaking? Our government is doing next to nothing to keep these unwanted invaders out or to remove them when they are here. It just isn't PC to suggest that illegal aliens should be deported or that their anchor babies shouldn't be US citizens. Well, PC or not, we need to remove all illegals and take away the "draw" of instant citizenship for their anchor babies. We are the world's biggest saps for allowing this to happen to us. Grow a spine Washington D.C., and throw the bums

I know what you are going through and the horror stories I hear about our men being prosecuted for protecting them self’s is crazy. My son is an Officer and he was behind the wire so a little safer than being outside the wire and he only had to do 4 months. He did say that they would shoot 107mm shells at the base on a regular basis. Tell your step-son thanks for his service and he will be kept in Prayer.

Thank you for the support. Yes, its going to be hard when he leaves and I will be worried sick. He volunteered to be " Infantry first in" which makes it even more nerve racking for the wife and I. I appreciate your sons service as well and hopefully a year from now I can breathe a sigh of relief

Thanks for the link. I will find time to get over to that side of the fence and put in my 2 cents. I will also show the wife as I believe she is going to need some way to vent or have some support. As of this time, she has none.

This is not just an issue in America.
For example, our schools no longer refer to the Christmas Holiday as such.....it's now called "the winter break" for fear of offending anyone. Frankly, I'm offended that support of our traditions and values gets labelled as racism and that our children are being brainwashed into believing that there is something unsavoury about patriotism and the beliefs they've beeen brought up with.
Any race or religion has the right to celebrate it's beliefs but surely expecting the indigenous race and religion to suppress their own traditions to accomodate them is racist in it's self.
If you visit or move to any foriegn country you accept the traditions and abide by the laws that exist there. Surely it's not unreasonable to expect the the same courtesy from all.
