My alpine amps on my 340 Da are not working... No blue light... Has anyone had both of ther apline amps go at the sametime? Seems strange to me...

Have you checked the power and aux leads with a volt meter to make sure they didn't corrode or get cut by chance?

Rod, check the blue wire that is supposed to be connected from the radio to the amp(s). This is the remote turn on wire that actually sends a signal to the amp(s) when the radio is turned on.

If you want, PM me and I'll give you my phone number and walk you through what to check and where.

I just installed a 2 amp and Sub setup yesterday on my buddy's boat and it came out awesome:smt038

thanks... I will check for power and the remote turn leads... I ordered a new amp, but I will use it in my car if I can get the amps on the boat to work...

Power ground and remote. If it's not one of those 3 then it's the amp.

I highly doubt they went at the same time.

I have three amps... 1 clarion and 2 alpines... The 2 alpines aren't working... They may not have gone at the same time. One of the alpines drives the base speaker, and I am not sure how long that has not worked... I will take my meter and check the power tomorrow... I had an amp go on my last boat at about the same age... I would imagine that if my amps are not working that others may have experianced the same problem with 8-9 year old alpine amps...

Rod, I just thought of something, with your Alpines being that old, there should be an external fuse located directly on the amps themselves. Check them, and, if the amps were installed properly, there should be another inline fuse connected close to the battery that powers all of that dam sound you have on your boat:grin:.

Is Toms River close to Absecon / Atlantic City?

BTW, I'm a Alpine man at heart, but I just don't feel like going thru the hassle of swapping all of that Clarion crap out anytime soon:smt009

Good Luck Rod!!!

I checked the fuses on the amps, and they are good... I checked fuse under the dash, and it was good... I will look for the battery fuse... We live about 50 miles north of AC... Actually we are only three miles from where they film that show called "Jersey Shore":smt101... But we don't watched the show...

I'd be willing to bet that the blue remote turn on wires are, somehow, loose going to both of the Alpine amps (from the radio side). It might not be a "Blue" wire, but trace back from the amps, the wires that come from the remote turn on, on the amps. The reason I call them the "Blue" wires is because this is usually what Alpine will use coming off their head units. I don't know what color the other manufacturers use, but I'm used to Alpine wiring

We have family in A.C. / Absecon and were up there for Christmas last year.

Let me know what you find out and tell the Wife, Happy Mother's Day:thumbsup:

Will do... Thanks... Hope you aren't affected by the oil spill... I can't imagine why it is taking so long to cap the well... I appreciate your help...

Also some radio's have a setting to turn off the remote wire output when the power to the radio is turned off(battery switch on/off).You have to go into the settings and turn it back on.

I would just get a power probe or multi-meter and start checking power at the wires.

Turned out to be a bad 60 amp fuse in near the battery... The fuse corroded inside, and visibly still looked good... Thanks to the Kreole Kid for directing me to the right place... Now I have a brand new four channel v300 Alpine Amp to sell if anyone needs one... I will try to send it back, but I think there is a 15% restock fee... $ 125 for any of my CSR friends...

Glad to be of service Rod. Is that THE only fuse protecting the two Alpine amps? If so separate them immediately with two 20 or 30 amp fuses. I know its a pita but that's really the right way to do it. If anything DOES happen at least you will have them separated properly and they both won't fry.

I'd take that amp off your hands but my factory Clarion crap seems to be operating fine for right now.

Each alpine amp has two 25 amp fuses in the amp... There is also push fuse under the dash, but i am not sure which amp for amps that is for...

Where were your amps located in the boat. I have 01 380 and can't find where the amps are. I know there must be one to push all the speakers.
