A cute 190 Stopped in for a restoration

Well it may take a bit longer for part 3. It's going to be a bad bad week here with temps freezing in the day and in the teens to single digits at night, maybe snow on Thursday.

This is a problem for us. We are not set up to work in that kind of cold here in the shop.

This is a rare event. Last time I remember something like this was back in the blizzard of 1993.

I remember that storm, snow and refreeze, then snow and refreeze! What a mess! It has been bone chilling cold here the last few days!:wow:

Yea I know it's 20 now and dropping.
I know for the guys up north this is nothing but things are not built nor designed for this kind of weather down here.

I was here in Alabama for 93 but I was in Atlanta for the Ice storm of 95. I spent the day watching cars crash at the intersection of Jimmy Carter and Norcross Tucker Rd from Barnacle's, What a mess that was.

Re: A cute SRV-190 Stopped in for a restoration

Well we at last got some nice weather today.
The old thermometer here at the shop hit 64F. I was able to get out side and do some paying boat work.

Tired of the automotive work all last week.

I got the initial sanding done on the 1971 SRV190 that's in for restoration. It felt good to get back to marine work and start rocking and rolling it.

Part 3- 190SRV may be coming to You-Tube in the next 2 or so days,,,,,,,,, watch for it folks.

Well part 3 is in. There's not much exciting about sanding but I tried to make it fun.

I just wish Spookeay Marine was closer to my home port...:grin::grin:

I have a 140 Ac farm. that was 3 roosters.
they are all named Spookeay rooster. LOL.

Heather, why not an attempt to compound the gel coat before the heavy arsenal sanding?
Any signs of rot on the floor?

BTW, I think Sexy horse needs to be featured in each video.

The boat had been painted years ago.....
Old 80's style enamel :(

That all had to come off. Also there is a large amount of spiderweb cracking at the rear most waterline in the original gel coat. For all these reasons we took it down to just a few mill and where that was not a option it was taken to glass.

As for The Sexy Horse.,,,,,, She would be in every video if I did not run her off.

She's is such a camera ham :smt043

I can tell that Gary never lived on a farm.

Owwwww, that is to cute and sad all in the same demented time.
What ever happened to them?

 Welcome to my life, that about sums it up perfectly.

Nice job so far on the 190 BTW, looking forward to more vids. Any updates on the windows on the 340? (Not to switch directions too much)

It's a 270 and no not yet.
I have the windows and every thing is set to go I just have not got to it yet. I keep to many irons in the fire sometimes.
It's coming.....

After the flood yesterday and the clean up today, we had a long day of it all. The SRV-190 is just about set for paint... As soon as the owners says go, we put up the plastic booth up, install the filters and make some sexy and pretty happen next.

Re: A cute SRV-190 Stopped in for a restoration

that 190 is nice.. i'm about to restore an 82' 210 SRV cutty... not looking foward to more glass work.... but i'm poor with 2 kids in college and can't pay for someone like you to do it. Would love to build a 4 bolt 5.7 300 hp stroker for it as it has a 4.3 at present,

Those are great old boats. My first boat was a 1973 closed bow just like that one but with a curved windshield. It would run 50mph with a straight six.
We also had a 1978 model open bow for a work boat here.
We tortured that boat. Put two floors in it two engines, sank it completely three times, had a 300+ hp engine in it for years that ran it well over 50mph. It was run almost every day.
Finally, the last time is sank we just pulled the engine out and crushed it. That boat handled rough water and speed very well and took a lot of punishment before we finally decided it had enough.
Those 70's Sea Ray runabouts had great lines. I think these were the boats that helped establish the Sea Ray name. Sleek and very well built.
