What am I doing wrong when I’m trying to post a picture?

So there are three different options going from Lake Michigan into the river system at Chicago.

What do you guys know about that?

There are two. Through downtown Chicago which is scenic but takes a while. Your boat shouldn’t have any problem with air draft unless somehow she’s over 17'6” high.

The faster route is the Cal Sag entering in Indiana, top off with what will likely be the least expensive fuel on that side of the lake in Hammond, IN before entering the river.

I have made the trip from TN to Lake Michigan several times and Lake Michigan to FL and back 14 trips.

I would double check the Air draft requirement for going through downtown. IIRC you need to clear 17’3”.

You're correct, I forgot about that one since we don't head south that direction any longer. When you get to the south branch going through Chicago on the Sanitary and Ship Canal, there is a RR bridge that is non operational any longer at 17'6".

You're good on the bridges no matter which way you go, as stated. My 2 cents is that if you have the time and you've never done it, Go through the city. I rate driving my own boat right down "Main Street" through downtown Chicago right up near the top of the things we did on the loop.

This is what I was wondering about.
We may give it a shot.

I’m in route to Port Clinton now.
We are planned to depart tomorrow late morning.
I can’t wait to finally get the show on the road.
I’ll be in Charlevoix all weekend. If you decide to run down the Michigan coast and need fuel or overnight break, I’ll be glad to buy you a cocktail…
