680 Sun Sport

Just found this thread and read all of it. Amazing boat and sounds like an amazing journey for the new owner. Enjoy! Made my morning! I have been drooling over that boat since it came out. Always was my favorite. I’ve been dreaming of owning a sea ray cruiser for 22 years and finally have one under contract (just a little 380). :)

Nothing little about a 380. It’s definitely better than no boat! Enjoy!

I actually made it home on 5/29.
I’m just trying to get my head back above water from being gone.
11 total days to do almost half of The Great Loop.
Left Port Clinton at noon on 5/19. Landed in Chicago before noon on 5/22.
Left Chicago on 5/24.
11 days total with 2 half days and one layover day.
That makes it 9 actual travel days.
I’ll update with more information when I get some time.

As someone who took 442 days to do the great loop, I am excited for you that you have an amazing new boat that performed flawlessly under the gun to get you to where you needed to be. I enjoyed following your travels, and I wish that someday you can do it again while taking the time to smell the roses if you choose to do so. In the mean time, enjoy, she’s a rare breed.

LGYC Lake Guntersville Yacht Club
That's a serious run Captain.

We just hosted the LGYC at CYC last weekend - great bunch of folks!
I hate I missed out.
We were coming in Sunday just as some of our folks were getting back from there.
I’ll be ready next time.

I would love to. There were just too many cards stacked against me to make a long trip out of it this time.
Maybe after I get 5 or so years of experience under my belt I will find the time.

I have a couple of things to fix so I am looking for a little help.
1. My port side window likes about 1/2” rolling all the way up. It looks like it’s closed from the outside but it actually needs to go on up a little more. There is a groove at the top of the opening and a thin edge protruding up from the frame around the glass and the window stops as soon as they touch.
I crawled through the cabinet under the passenger seat and removed an access panel.
I found that I could take a pin out and easily push the window on up into position with no’s resistance so nothing is binding.
There is a wired sensor on the framework and a magnetic locator on the moving part of the mechanism. I removed the magnet and lowered it 1/2” thinking the window would then go on up another 1/2” but it did not change at all.
The glass itself is inside an encasement so unless there is another sensor inside that encasement I can’t think of what might be stopping it.
I can’t see any wires going into the encasement but then I can’t see all the way around it either.
The motor never sounds like it is under any load. It just cuts off.

Has anyone seen this before?

2. My sunroof has belts that drive it open and closed. They are both broken.
Two large panels will have to be removed and re-bedded to replace the belts so I need to find a part number and have the belts in hand before I tear into it.

@Tucker K5 Sir what an amazing journey!!! Have to say, I have recently stumbled across the 4 or 5 680s for sale online right now and have become absolutely obsessed with these Yachts! Imagine my surprise to hear you are so close being over at the Yacht Club!!! The wife and I picked up a 370 sea ray last year and have been loving it!!! We are actually over at Alread Marina!!! Are you getting out much in the 680???? Being that it's over a year now since you acquired it, how's it going so far?????

Next to me is this old decrepit sailboat that absolutely does not fit in here.
If you zoom in you can see that it has sat here so long the curtains are rotting off the windows.
I am certain I have solved a half a century old cold case.

Apologies for the LATE LOL here but that one gave me a good laugh @Tucker K5!!!!!!
