48 LED Uinderwater Lights

The good news?

I received a PM from Doug immediately sayig he will replace the light! Nice to see someone stand behind their product.

I will inspect the internal wiring this afternoon and check the in-line fuse as it was too dark last night.

That was a good decision on his part. With 13,358 members, that is a whole lot of potential negative advertising. :smt018

Cut the guy some slack. You don't even know if it's actually the light itself. There's a good chance it could be the wiring.

Exactly. That's why I will check the fuse and wiring FIRST. Even if it is the light, crap happens. He's a great guy and has made a vow to make good without even knowing if it's the light.

Update to Intall:

1st Pic: 4 switches in transom for 4 different pairs of lights. 2nd Pic: Back of panel which is holding the switches. I used the back covers for the ground power to protect the backs of the switches. I used small dia PVC to protect the wires through the thru-bulkhead-fittings between the transom shower compartment and the ER.

I am very interested in lighting up the stern of my 400DA. It seems that these pictures were mostly taken in a fresh water environment. How do these LED do lights hold up to salt water; specifically in a submerged application? Please advise as to I can order three to six units.

Ron,

As per the PM, but for other people's use as well, The only difference in salt water will be the potential for growth on the lenses. These will need to be brushed frequently. No scum = no seedlings = no barnacles. Barnacles would be destructive to these polycarbonated lenses compared to glass, but they'll still be better than regular plastic.

Any pics on how you ran the wiring thru the hull? I am gonna order 3 of the green ones for my transom. And I do not want to have wires exposed on the outside of the boat. Just curious how guys are doing the installs????

Also Doug, is the website up?

Received 4 new, blue, 48 LED lights today - Heavy, thick lenses with protective coating; Bright, blue spots; Thick protective sheath for the wires. I'm pulling the boat next Monday and drilling holes.

Doug also replaced my 4 blue 48LED's with the new run. I will have mine done the first week of June. 4 of them should ligh up the back of my boat pretty well!

I'm confused? Did he make some design changes? You guys are talking about a new run of lights?

Doug

He did make design changes and this is his second run of these lights. As John mentioned, the new run have thicker lenses with a protective coating which helps for saltwater use (I am in fresh water) and makes them more scratch resistant. The wiring also has a heavier, more protective sheath.

I can't wait to get them on my boat first week of June!

I can tell you from having a set of first-runs on my boat, they're good lights for the money.
