48 LED Uinderwater Lights

Here they are. All but last pool photo are under water. Last one is above water. It shows the reflection up to the pool screen. The lights weigh about zero. The amperage is about zero. If these work over time, they're awesome.

I plan to take the boat to the island, wire these up on a temp basis, then place them at various spots under the sp, above and below the surface. Then, I'll mount them in the right spot.

hi this look's nice how can we get them are they available in the market?

Are you installing just two of these? It would be interesting to see the outcome. When I was in San Diego, several boats in the marina kept them on at night and I could see them from the 30th floor room I stayed in.

2 to start. If I put these in the water, I'll probably get 2 to replace my stern lights which are currently out of the water on the bottom of the sp.

Sweet! This is something I think about doing but don't want to pull the boat to do it since my bottom paint is fresh it would be a waste. Let me know how you wire them up to the bottom of the SP if that's what you do...

I will. I may just tac the wiring neatly using small dabs of silicone or something. I want to minimize the holes. There are already two holes above the waterline where the current lights feed through. If you put these above the waterline, you don't need to pull the boat. If I do it, I'm going to use a manual drill to make two small holes, fill 'em with 4200, then set the screws. These lights are small and light weight.

Good deal, thanks for the info. I would have to wait for the water to warm up a bit before trying that! I don't have a wetsuit...

I would have to do it when the wife is not around as she would FREAK if she saw me punching holes in HER boat!

How is the website coming along?

What's the price again?

I think I may just go the route of mouonting under my swim platform as it seems that would be a cleaner and easier install.

Finally ... John ... You really like them?

Anyone considering underwater lights should check the lumen output- before they purchase. Generally, you're going to get the "performance" you pay for.
Depending on the water clarity where you boat- a freshwater reservoir, or the FL Keys doesn't require as much intensity as the often murky GOM where I boat.

I can tell you that for me, I wouldn't want any less than I have- two 55 watt Xenon that put out 5,400 lumens each- total of 10,800 lumens.

A 55 watt halogen puts out around 800 lumens- so it would take around 13 of them to equal the two Xenon. I've spoken with two owners that installed halogen u/w lighting only to regret it as not being bright enough. Be sure to do your research before you buy.

Here is a link from Yachtlights which shows relative brightnesses of some popular u/w lights, you can look up the lumen output of these lights to compare them to whatever else you are considering.

Yeah, I really like them. I'm a little worried about installing them under water full time, but for the price and the risk (little or none) I like them. They put out brilliant, blue (in my case) light with very little draw on the batteries and zero heat. They may just be a little light weight, but, we'll see.

The web site will be up by April. The reason I do not have pictures presently; when the boat was pulled in the fall the lights were removed and taken apart to be sure they were working as expected and to see if there were any problems found. All showed well. So when the boat is out of storage there will be pictures taken on land and after it is back in the water I will take more pictures. There will even be some taken in the marina where the water isn’t that clear for comparison
I did take pictures of the lights on my 39 Sea Ray in storage they did not show up as well as I wanted.

Doug ... Sent you a PM w/ a few questions and info on ordering. I think for our lake a couple of these under the swim platform will do us well with little to no effect on the boat and a minimal installation for a great effect while out.

I'm going to order this week for sure. Just deciding between 4 blue48LED's or 2 white and 2 blue.

I should be receiving my 2nd order soon. I'll post a comparison with pictures in the pool to help you decide.

Great. Have you decided how your going to permanently mount them?

From your pool testing results, are you going to mount yours on the u/s of the sp or on the transom above or below the water line? Do you think that the lights will penetrate enough if they are mounted on the u/s of the sp? Our water conditions up here are very clear. With the lights mounted here, do you think that there will be a significant reflection issue? Being that I have a wider beam than your boat, I am thinking that 2 lights may not be enough. I would like to go with blue as well.
