48 DA Owners Club

Has anyone shopped recently for insurance on their 48? I have a renewal for AIG at $2733. Anyone suggest another company?

Do you have it insured for agreed value or market value? It makes a big difference.

Curious where everyone keeps their spare props?
I just purchased a set and not sure where to put them. Is there an optimal location?
Thanks!

WOW! That's not a cheap ticket. I would not have room in my bilge. Would they fit under the salon sofa or below the salon floor where the shower box is? They would have to be secured so not to move under rough conditions and damage other equipment.

I could make room for them in the salon bilge to the side of the shower box area. JB, as you rightly point out, I am concerned about securing them. Definitely don't want them being able to bang around down there.

I store mine under the V-berth. There is a hatch at the head of the bed, and they fit perfectly if stacked one on top of the other. I used 5/8" threaded rod with small pieces of starboard between them, and just put my extra prop nuts in box next to them.

Thanks for the referral. Mine was $2200 so you saved me 500 bucks!
Glad I could help. When I started boating I had BoatUS. In 2009 I got a quote from NBOA for the same coverage and it was ALOT lower. Ive been with them ever since, without a claim.

Can anyone help and save me a trip by telling me what side flag holder fits in the circled holder?

Anyone ever tighten up their rudder shaft seal nuts? I had mine repacked the first of the year and now after the Keys Trip I found I have a slow drip out of each side. I talked to the boat yard and he told me to put a wrench on the lower nut and hammer it tighter about a quarter turn or more, then clamp down on that with the upper nut so it will squeeze the wax in the packing tight and seal it up. I always had issues with my 310 rudder shafts leaking and now this one. My Princess never leaked... Anyone know the nut size and if there is a special tool for this? Not the easiest place to get to in the 48.

What has everyone been up too???? Been kind of quiet here? I am sure everyone is getting use of their 48's let's see some summer pics...

Boat looks great... How do you like your H3O+? I just installed mine and that manual winch almost killed me on the Keys trip.... I just got the electric one but haven't tried it yet.
Thank you!
I love the Hurley. I’m only lifting a Spark that weighs 450 lbs soaking wet so the manual winch works fine. Let me know how the electric one is. I’m curious.
