SpaceX is literally putting up thousands of Starlink satellites. They are pretty small; about the size of a washing machine. The plan is to provide seamless high speed communications across the globe within the cost point of current internet connections. SpaceX is in direct competition with OneWeb who are also launching many small satellites for the same purpose which is good to keep costs competitive. There are foreign entities that are beginning to do the same thing. This is a rendering of a typical bus with 60 Starlink spacecraft on it. So, I wouldn't get too carried away in spending a lot of money on Sat dishes and the like as there is an evolution coming that will enable seamless worldwide high speed data.

Thanks Tom...That is exactly what I thought. It will be interesting to see how well the 5 figure KVH & Intellian domes sell in a few years. Musk's antenna is a 12" phased array. Like a pizza plate - only has to be pointed in a general direction.

That sure would be nice but I am sure in a few years when these come to market and are Marinitized they will have a hefty price tag like anything else new and for a boat.

From what I understand the transceiver / modem units are slated to be in the $100.00 range (at least that is what Musk said several years ago) and deployable anywhere in the world including in the "field". I would expect that to include marine as well as aircraft.

The beta units that work in the norther US (44° N to 52°N) are $499 for the equipment and $99 a month. Hopefully Bezos satellite system (orbiting a few km above Musk's) will add a little competition.

These things are gold... put them under the ac compressor in the master and what what a difference... no more noise from worn out bushings... Amazon save the day for the admiral..

Grant. Did you get the genset info on the vv7? Not that you need it with the other two screens.

I didn't even

I didn't even think to try that yet. How do I set that up now? I also need to set it up on the Raymarine MFD's as I am sure I can get it there also.

Next I need a fridge with N2K to make sure the beer is stocked and kept cold... put an alarm on that one.

This is my latch, notice in the second photo there is some type of wedge that keeps the angle consistent to the door and the frame.

That’s what I needed the matron to usb to do.on my vv502 (previous post)with my lap top. Maybe you can program it with the new Maretron screen. Lmk

That's great Grant! Was your replacement maretron unit also preprogrammed by Cummins? Or a blank slate?

My project today.
It was used and programmed for something. I reset it and programmed it with Tom’s instructions took 10 minutes and had it running. The DSM410 does everything. Now I need to spend time and program more screens.

what are you working on under that shrink wrap?

I am thinking the vv7 might find it since I programmed the module. I am sure Tom will know...

Yes I called Sea Ray and have all the part numbers from The company that built the doors Aluminum 2000 is the company now owned by Bomar. I need to call them Monday. I am playing with a couple ideas right now.

I compounded and polished all the smooth gelcoat on the bow. Needed it, and with more snow forecast for tomorrow I needed to get out of the house.
I'm going to clean up the non skid as well..
