460 DA Owners Thread

Awesome! Can you share pics of your camper enclosure? I am trying to get ideas. Thanks!
Here is a link to my canvas job from 3 years ago. https://link.shutterfly.com/StY8obc5mob

We wanted as much open area as we could and limited vertical posts. We didn't like any of the designs that had the extra set of verticals near or over the rod holders. Our canvas game came up with this design and used 1-1/4" stainless for the support and frame work. The stabilizing bars are the 2 angled pieces on the back section where the large glass is.

We just recently added the zip in/out white mesh screens to knock the heat down and give a little privacy. As you can see in the pictures, you can still see what is going on outside, but it is harder to see in. These are a great modification to what we originally had which were flannel cloths with Velcro. The flannel git dirty easily, it shrunk and sagged. These new zip in/out pieces are nice and tight and look at lot cleaner. We also added it to the helm pieces. We were using an exterior screen cover for the entire helm to shade form sun and give privacy, but this is much better.

We have a full set of screens to insert where any piece of glass is as well. We can have full isinglass enclosures, full screen enclosures or a mixture of both. Hope this gives you some ideas. More boat pics here: https://wolfsden460sundancer.shutterfly.com/pictures

Hello all,

With launch day supposedly 3 weeks away (woke up to a snowstorm this morning ), I am starting to prep for spring maintenance. What oil is used in the 2000 Cummins 6CTAs and how much?

Thanks in advance.

Got a question about my new to me 2003 with the 480CE motors. Heading to boat tonight to bring her home. Only had it out once for a shake down run. What it the normal idle rpm?And how do you adjust the the cruise settings from the defaults?

Normal idle is 600, slow idle is 550. With the sync on and either cruise 1 or 2 selected the + - rocker will allow you to adjust the rpm. I used cruise one at 2100 and cruise 2 at 2200. Light boat vs heavy boat.

Thanks for the info! It will be nice to have this feature for the 200 mile trip.

Josh,
I've used Valvoline Blue 15W-40 for years and always bought it in MI or OH. Price kept escalating and recently I went to a semi-synthetic oil with the same viscosity. Engines will take around 6 US gallons per side. If you're buying it in Canada the metric containers are larger.
Launching in 3 weeks??

For the Cummins 6CTA....Shell Rotella T4 15-40, 4.5 gallons per engine. I use the same in my Onan generator. Shell SAE 30, 1.5 gallons for each transmission.

Hey,

Thanks for the information. I can't believe last season went by so quickly and we never met face to face. It's funny how once we are at the boat and in the lagoon we don't have any desire to leave the area except to go out on the water.

Ecarte told me when I stored the boat that they start putting them back in mid-April depending on the ice conditions and will be done by the end of the month. I asked again a couple weeks ago and it was confirmed. I think they are also itching to do so because it was recently sold and I bet that is one of the last things the old owners have to do before handing over the keys.

Glad to see you making good use of the boat. Your boat looks great BTW. A serious looking 460 with all black.
Oil choice is personal and the big two are Valvoline Blue and Shell Rotella it seems. Early on I was told by the Cummins dealer to stay with the Valvoline Blue (for Cummins) because there was one unique additive in it that Cummins approved. It might have been B.S. but that's all the Michigan dealer had on his shelf in those days.
Hopefully see you at the marina this year.

Hi everyone. I have 2000 Sundancer 460 with hydraulic swim platform. anyone happen to have a part # for the zincs on the platform?

You need 4. I just ordered the T20 and the dimensions are 3 1/2" X 1 3/4".

Here’s an unusual one. AC water pump went out. I always thought it was strange looking. After looking it up it seems my PO installed a well water pump at some point. Anyone have a spec on what pump I need?
