420 DA Thread

Hello all, I am trying to find out what is a realistic price on replacing the cockpit vinyl in our boats. I just got a price of $4200 from a lady that I know does good work, but I have no idea if that is a good price or not. Anybody out there done the job recently and remember what they paid? Thanks, Channing

3 years ago we did parts of the cockpit so not sure this helps.
The complete U aft was redone.. we did both seat cushions and all back rests.
The arm section of Captain chair and seat cushion was redone, the bolster and two top sections of the back are still original
Companion seat beside captain chair was not touched, back or seat. Both side pads on hard top were kept original.

Doing partial is something to consider...our guy knew the original material and it matched perfectly...you can not tell. We paid $2,500 but that included a bow pad and cover that was made from scratch

I got a price to do it all including companion , captain and arch for $6800 in Maryland. I thought it was high. Still looking. My budget was $5000.

That looks almost exactly what I wanted to do. Where did you have it done?

Someone on here posted their 420 with a similar design but with navy accent. If you are out there, I would like to pick your brain. Love that look.

I have a lot to do to this boat, but we are slowly making progress. The port side batteries were way easier than anticipated. Now the next two challenges....

Anyone know how to get to the starboard side windshield wiper motor?
Any ideas on how to access the vent fan in the master head?

Any ideas appreciated.

Bennett

AlexF did this on his 2004 420DB - starts at post 2230 in the 420/44DB thread. Might be exactly the process you need or give you a good head start.

Good luck,
Tom

This was very timely and helpful. I reached out to Alex to see what part he purchased and where he got it.

I'm hoping Bennett jumps in and does his first and then posts his experience. Save me from being the Guinee pig.

I have a punch list and this is on there. I also need to find the distribution box for the MSR AC as I have no air coming from the vent in the master head. I have a piece of duct work off somewhere. I have emailed SR asking how to access the vent fan, but no answer yet. Alex pulled the medicine cabinet out to get to his. I remember now because I had the drawing of how to do it and sent it to him....thanks!

Bennett, you should find the part number in the parts list for your boat. For the 2004 420, the part number is 965699 BLOWER, BILGE 3" REMOTE MNT #5415 (Item #25 on the Starboard Head drawing). No guarantee that its the same on the Sundancer but ... there is a good chance. Hopefully Alex can share where he purchased his.

Ok, this is probably a very ignorant question, but where do you find a parts list for your boat?
