420 DA Thread

Funny when you have a smaller boat you want it bigger. When you have a bigger boat you want it smaller..... that would be me right now as I compound, polish and wax this thing.... right now I wish it was a 15 footer

My dock neighbor has an 06 44 parked next to my 05 420. We use the same cleaning company but he pays more for the extra 2 feet. Drives him nuts :)

Cut me some slack. Of the first 12 weekends of boating season, I get to use my boat exactly twice. Thursday is the first time!

Can anybody point me in the right direction for replacement BLACK Phillips screws that hold in the switches and panels in the cockpit? Also for the little rubber washers that go under the screws?

West Marine has the right size - but the screws are not black. For aesthetic reasons I don’t want to mix and match.

More than likely McMaster Car will have them and you will have them the next day.

Has anyone replaced their Salon ac unit with the Dometic Turbo 12k? I am having a hell of a time removing the existing thru the triangle. Need to hear from someone who did it and can share the tips and tricks with me. I already replaced cockpit and Stateroom so if anyone needs help therelet me know.

I went with the 16,000 Turbo. Same foot print. Reused existing thermostat. Fit tru the triangle. Make sure u blow the lines out before u take it out so u don't get water all over when u turn it sideways .

@Woody - Thanks - I happened to have a Sharpie with me on the boat when I saw your message and I used it on the worn black screws and it did help make them look better. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll still look for a more permanent option.

@Krazzeeddie - I checked out the McMaster Car website for the rubber washers and they require a large minimum order. Hesitant to place the order as I don't know if the washers they list on their website will really fit. If you or somebody else on this forum has already placed an order for a specific washer and it works if you could let me know which one I would appreciate it.

Just screw the screws a couple revolutions in to a scrap piece of wood and spray paint the heads

I replaced the factory 3/4” hoses, through hull, a/c strainer, seacock, and all connecting hoses and clamps to the a/c water pump with 1” for better flow through the 3 a/c units. The results are amazing. It started with a burnt out motor so I figured it was a good time to make this better. See pic. I’m spitting water over 18” on starboard aft and amidships port. Master bed salon is about a foot or 9” more than before.

I got the AC unit installed. Even after cutting the same notches it would still not come out. I broke the blower motor off and pulled it out. For the new ac we took off the blower housing (2 screws) and lowered it in hole. Then attached blower while in hole. Very easy.
