410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

They did bring it up through the middle; I wasn't there so much of the detail I can't give other than what they told me. They were done in 4 hours.

As it ends up the tank rusted from the bottom. When you put the new one in put it on four Starboard blocks to get it up off the fiberglass flat mounting area so any water under it can dry and won't soak the tank's insulation.

Makes sense....great advice.

It will also come out starboard of the engine but the generator needs to lift out first according to the guys that replaced mine. They thought they way they did it would be easier.

Ken- I guess I never noticed if anyone else has one, but my 410 has a diamond plate step between the engines just aft of the a/c pump, strainer, bilge. It came with a milk crate underneath it, and I just assumed they all did. The milk crate fits perfectly.

the step is standard but not the crate. I am thinking about an inverter battery there...

I have 1999 Sundancer 400 and trying to replace the windshield screw cover foam. Does anyone have the part# for the replacement material, or is it best to go through a dealer?

has anyone tried to level the VBerth on the 410 DA?

By "out of level", what are you referring to? I'm not sure we've noticed if we indeed have the same issue.

Has anyone with a '97-'00 400DA tried to install a second standard outdoor power outlet on the starboard side of the cockpit? We like to put a fan over in corner behind the captain's chair and sometimes put phones/tablets in the built-in cooler that we NEVER use as a cooler. My plan is to tap into the GFCI in the aft head and run power back to an outlet that I'll install behind the captain's chair. Then depending on how I feel, maybe split another feed off of that and install another outlet under the benches on the starboard side.

It seems like most everything you need only requires 12v. Have you considered low voltage connections? Safer and more practical...

But, to answer your question, I haven't done it. I see no reason why you couldn't. Though I'm sure it would be against any marine code.

The material is neoprene EPDM. This is the neoprene EPDM I used from McMaster Carr; and it's inexpensive.

The only difference between this and the OEM is the adhesive back on the McMaster product. Soap it down before install and no issues. Cut each piece plenty long and compress into the groove as it will slightly shrink.
I put it in two years ago and still looks great even in Florida sun..

Mine has a factory outlet under the starboard bench seating. It is on the same circuit as the outlet in the port storage compartment to the right of the ice maker. You sure that you don't have one under that bench seating? It is higher up than I would have expected and I only saw it when in the ER with the hatch raised.

I would think it would be easier to tap off the existing cockpit outlet...? I agree that it's useful to have power behind the helm chair. I went the redneck route: I ran an extension cord from the stbd outlet under the bench and up to the access plate behind the chair. I use it to charge my portable VHF.

For phone charging, I installed a Vimar USB outlet in a switchplate in the companionway. It's plugged into the 110 outlet inside the cabinetry installed for the factory TV. That ledge is an ideal place to keep phones. If you need USB charging in the cockpit, you can replace the cig lighter outlet in the dash with USB. I have one in the 280, but it's low quality. I get nervous about plugging an $800 phone into an $11 fixture...

I was able to squeeze behind the port engine and do it with a pair of channel locks to loosen the coupling nuts and then do it all by hand. My hold down clamp came loose by hand as well. 10 minute job. Pull your transom shower out from its holder full length as the hose lays on the area of the filter.

I was hoping that this wasn't going to be the answer, but had a feeling after spending yesterday in the ER cleaning. Thanks Carter and will just plan on Oragmying myself into that space after my filter arrives.

I would only climb back there one time. That time would be to relocate the holding tank vent filter to the highest point in the bilge I can easily access without resorting to contortionism. Mine are now on the engine room bulkhead right at the top where I can reach both from the center of the bilge........note: I've got a 450DA, not 400/410, but the principle is the same.

This was our redneck solution all summer as well! But I feel like it's an easy-enough project to make it look clean. I traced all the wires, and it's actually a MUCH easier run from the aft-head GFCI than it is from the existing outlet on the port. In fact, I can't even really trace the wires from that existing outlet, so I have no clue how I would run a new wire from there. But the aft-head outlet actually runs directly into the bundle of wires that run alongside the dashboard. That's an easy 5min snake job. The labor is just installing the outlet.

Even better, I cut a hatch behind the transom door (open position) and extended a hose to a Big Orange filter. I don't even have to open the hatch whenever I need to replace the media!

I added a 20amp circuit and a receptacle at each side under the steps. We use these a lot for cooking, space heaters, etc.

I need to the Replace door track and hardware for the cabin door. I see the parts I need on searayparts.com. Anyone else do this job? I see there is an access panel above the door on the dash. Looking for tips. This is a 2 piece door on the express unlike the dancers.
