410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Will try it tonight and let you know if it works! Thanks!

I look forward to hearing back from you. Also, make sure you clean the rubber gasket the window rests against really well too. Good luck!

TNT 8808, just as you described the port side window was leaking! I tightened all the screws and will see if she holds! If not I will order some new window gaskets. Thanks again for the great advice!

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Hi All,
Getting back on the water after a few years. Old boat was a 2000 410DA with 3116's. New boat we're considering is a 2000 410DA with 3126's at 385 HP. Each have approx. 1600 hrs. No sound insulation on the gen.

Questions: Engine room space (to check strainer baskets, etc.) looks VERY tight. Anyone on this forum with experience who can tell me if my concerns are justified? Second, does the lack of sound insulation box on the gen make that much difference? (Old boat had one).

Otherwise, the boat looks extremely well cared for and is very clean. Anything else I should be concerned about?

Thanks very much for any advice?

David

@DS410

There is plenty of room with 3126. Hours shouldn't be a issue. If the genny is a westerbek then no need for sound shield. Low RPM engine, quite to begin with. The only watch out on 3126 and 16''s is that they do not have piston sleeves. Make them near impossible to rebuild. Otherwise great motors.

DS410 - no idea what LG111 is talking about - there is no such thing as a 3126 with piston sleeves. I had a 2000 410 with 3126 and that is one sweet boat. Sold mine to a friend and it has been in the slip next to me for 4 years - I get to admire it every time I walk by. There is plenty of room in the engine compartment up and until you need to the swap the stbd engine impeller. It's a bugger unless you take the exhaust tube off. Then its downgraded to a minor bugger. Other than that, plenty of room in there for all other routine maintenance. We even travelled with two full size mountain bikes stowed in between the motors. I wouldn't be concerned about the hours since CAT service is pretty available in most markets. Good luck!!

I'm not very dainty at 6' 2" and 225 lbs and I can get around my engines well enough. Some items are a struggle and don't get me started on the starboard water pump! Most routine items are not bad, even the strainers are easy. I have to get low, crawl aft, then I can move around to access all 3 of the aft strainers, bilge pumps, Reverso, etc. I have been behind both motors, it just takes some planning. Have your tools down there with you since once you are there, you will hate to climb out to chase tools!

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

That's what I said, no piston sleeves! I spoke with CAT about that 2 years ago and why I walked away from them. Geeze.

My electric sofa on my 410 Express does not lay completely flat. Also when I put it back in the upright position it doesn't appear to go all the way either. I've looked at the brackets and nothing seems to bind it up. Anyone else ever have this issue?

@Wetdogggg,

Mine does the same thing. When down I adjust the custions. When up I adjust again. I think the cushions just need a little nudging. Everything else works as it should.

The mid-cabin door is a real b***h to close and open. See the picture below of the roller bracket and let me know what you think or if any of you have had the same issue. Much appreciated.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Question about my A/C. My a/c pumps water nonstop out of both the thru hulls which is different than the 310 I had that only pumped when the a/c kicked on. I got up last Sunday morning and was working around on the dock and noticed that I didn't have water coming out of the forward hole. I went to see if the forward air was on and it was. I shut it down because I didn't want to hurt anything if it wasn't already. My units are a Cruisair with reverse heat system 12000 btu. Any suggestions on why the water quit pumping? I'm going to check my strainers when I get to the boat Friday but I don't think that's it. I cleaned them not long ago. In my breaker panel I have a forward a/c breaker, aft a/c breaker and 1 a/c pump breaker all were still on when I checked them on that Sunday. Where is the a/c pump located? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Is it possible that some debris, like a plastic grocery bag, got suctioned to your sea strainer on your hull?

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Thanks DS410, I thought there was only one intake for the A/C system and I have water coming out of the aft thur hull so I'm assuming that the problem is inside the boat, but I'll check that. Thanks again

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Mine does not run constantly. I do have my fan run all the time but water is only coming out when the compressor is on and blowing the cooled or heated air. As far as the front and rear outlet. If I have my front unit off completely and the main cabin one on no water will come out the front.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Doggg - I know we have different boats - but on my '03 410, when either unit starts, my one pump comes on and water flows out of both outlets...you must have two separate pumps...

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

My 400 EC has one AC pump feeding both AC condensing units. Whenever either unit is actively heating or cooling (the compressor is running), water is flowing out of both discharges. When both compressors are off (not actively cooling or heating), the AC Pump is off and no water is flowing. Running the fan only does not trigger the AC pump to start.

You may want to trace the water lines from each condenser unit back to the pump to see where and how they connect to the pump. If you don't have water flowing from both discharges each time either condenser is running, you may find that you have 2 different pumps.

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Thanks everyone for the replies. I posted this over on the maintenance and repairs section and got some info that I'm going to try tonight when I get to the boat. I was going to delete the question over here but thought I would wait until I found the problem and post the fix just in case it helps someone here. I do know that I have one pump for both units and that they run nonstop if I have my units turned on whether they are cooling/heating or not. I will try to post on Monday what the problem was. Thanks again

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Well people it was the easiest fix I've had but I'm not going to be any help for anyone else that comes across this problem. When I got to the boat I turn on the breakers and stepped outside to see water flowing out of both the holes. I must of had a block in the hose going to the forward A/C and when I hit the breaker to turn it on it broke free. Everything worked great all weekend. Thanks again everyone
