410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Can anyone tell me what I should use for caulk on the port and starboard engine vents, radar arch to hull gap and all the other areas around the fiberglass that need it?
I am not a fan of silicone. It doesn’t seem to look good for long. It grows mold. Then it is hard to remove.
I did a search on the site and am more confused.

There are many good choices out there, this is one of them - 4000uv https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40066991/

Thank you. That was the front runner in the back of my head…. If that makes sense. There are I. Fact too many options. Thank you for your input. It is appreciated.

i did our previous boat with 4000UV and it looked great for a long time. It wasn’t the easiest to work with, but I don’t know any of these products are

the other one I see mentioned often is boat life but I have no first hand experience

That product is an adhesive not a fairing/caulking material. Are you trying to glue things together or fair/caulk?
If you are re-caulking joints I'd recommend Sikaflex 295UV which is tooled easily and lays in great. Most manufacturers are using this product for caulking fiberglass/gelcoat joints these days.

+1 Sikaflex 295UV
I have been working my way around my boat, re-caulking seams with this. IMHO, the way to go.

I have been looking for a solution to trimming out the edges of these stairs for over a year now. I just lived with the raw edge until I could come up with something.

I couldn’t stand the idea of carpet on the steps and I love the marine weave. I saw someone post their Plasteak interior and saw these mouldings. Ordered them up and it really finishes this out perfectly.

Pretty happy with my 30 minute Friday afternoon project.

Man that whole combination looks amazing. Between the stainless, that plush carpet...ughhh. Makes me feel like my cabin is a college dorm room compared to yours!

Thank you, every year we try to improve as much as possible. I really enjoy these projects.

I finally got around to making a new set of aft deck flooring with binding as well. When I bought the boat, I had cut some material that I had and lived without binding for a year and a half just to get rid of the original carpet that was back here. It finally started to fray decently at the end of last season. It really does finish it off much nicer.

First run with the new tabs today. I didn’t play around a ton because the weather window was small but they have good results. I seem to have picked up about 1mph at all cruising rpm, but I am very heavy right now. Nearly full fuel, full water, new 240lb dinghy out back, and now however many hundred pounds of new vinyl floor below.

I have to write down the comparisons but this year but I am going the same speed at 2150 as I was at 2200. I’m sure I can squeeze more out by really tweaking the tabs underway, I have no feel for where they are now since it’s a longer travel cycle with the second set

boat turned well over 2850 WOT and 31mph, and was still climbing when I pulled back, so loading is good. EGT is about the same under cruise, 675-700*

410 with cats.. tab mod done, tested
before mod
clean bottom
propglide on gear
3/4 fuel 3/4 water 2 adults
2300 rpm
22mph
WOT 30mph 2800 rpm

with mod
new bottom
3/4 fuel/ water 2 adults
propglide on gear
2300 cruise
26 mph avg
WOT rpm 2800rpm
wot 31 ( was run in river 15mph headwind)
The boat pops right up. and bows down nicley... you dont have to bury the tabs now.. I need to play more with the tabs and cruise for sure.. for now 3 to 4 mph and more bow down is a plus
This was done off of Ft myers beach... new composite cutlass bearings and Props

2300 rpm

that's great.. are you freshwater or salt.. my speed changes when I get in fresh to brackish water 1-2 mph less

I really wish I would have done the tunnel tabs this winter, I just ran out of time. I am very curious how they would affect my boat.

I am normally cruising at 2250 pretty loaded up between 24.5-25 mph. I don't really care much about gaining more speed, but I feel like I really need to get the stern out of the water (stern lift) a little more. The added speed and efficiency would be a big bonus!

Do you notice or feel the extra lift?
