410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

I am spacing on what model Nevercold refer is in the cockpit of my 410DA. I am sick and tired of the noisemaker so I want to replace it. Can anyone share the Norcold model?

I went with an Isotherm CR42 for my cockpit fridge. Fits nicely with the remote-mounted compressor. I had a warranty issue last year, which they covered, now I'm hoping for a trouble free 20+ years coming :)

I’ve done a search and came up empty. I’m looking for reasonably priced lights for my arch. I don’t have the originals and parts manual doesn’t give me a number so I don’t know the dimensions. I know the hole is exactly 3”. I’m assuming they are the spring loaded type but not sure.
the holes are near the corners. I want them to lay flat therefore, they can’t be too big. I see plenty of 3” for sale but am concerned they are too small for the hole.

I think these are a hair too small, however, I have these in my boat and they work well and are bright. 18 month warranty as well. Maybe you can search for the same brand with a different dimension?

Thank you. Yes a little too small for my 3” hole. But I like the idea of the spring mount. Is that how the originals mounted in the arch? I know it’s what I have down below.

I’m going to swap my stock transducer next offseason now that I have newer MFD. my a78 does chirp downvision I’m probably going to add a CPT-120

it comes with a 0-25* block, anyone know what the deadrise of the stock transducer is? I think it’s in the manual but I don’t have it handy

I believe the boats deadrise is 19*. I have a B60 transducer I think was factory installed and its 20*.

One issue I ran into when looking at this a couple years ago, is the hole for the B60 was significantly different than what I wanted to put back in, so it required a lot of fiberglass work to swap it. There wasnt anything in the lineup at that time that would fit directly either. This was according to Raymarine Tech help.

Let me know what you find out, or how you plan to do it.

interesting, might be easier to just cut a new through hull and leave the old in place. That project is a ways off but I’ll keep you posted

If only installing 1, that might be a good option. If you were considering RealVision, that requires the dual transducers. The existing transducer is installed in some prime real estate!!

Does anyone know how to remove this big panel? I need to get below the windshield supports on the helm

Riptide, I remember when running some cables, you could see the top of that panel when you had the speaker/light "teardrops" off, they are just held in place with clips. and pop off. That way you can see how the panel you are asking about is secured.

Thank you. I might have to bite the bullet and do that. I was trying to disturb as little as possible. I never have anybluck with clips holding tight after I pull something off.

I wouldn't be too concerned on the teardrops. I have had to pull them down to change bulbs and they were strongly held in place. I know what you mean but these aren't the crappy Christmas tree clips, these look like they are made for access. You'll need to unscrew the light bulb assembly or disconnect the wires (there are spade connectors) and disconnect the speakers to drop the panel while you work.

Hello All,

I have what I believe is a faulty alternator, port side. With only the port engine batteries are not charging, but with only the starboard engine running the all 3 banks are charging. I assume I need to take out the alternator and take it to a shop to be tested and rebuilt. Looking at the p[ositioning of the port side alternator, it looks like a big project to get it out. Has anyone removed and replaced the alternator? Any instructions would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

If I remember correctly I had to remove that panel and the one over the galley to get to the windshield wiper motors on my 400DA. If you rub your finger along the edge you will feel the head of the screws that attach it. Where those screws are pinch the vinyl and pull it out where it is tucked above and the screw will be exposed. When putting it back in tuck the vinyl back in using a plastic body filler applicator.

Or slide a butter knife into and along the joint to find the screws....

Well I finally got my ole gas powered pig out and up on plane with the new dink attached this weekend. Ran like a dream. Full fuel, 3/4 water, 4 adults and 3 kids onboard. She needed a little more tab than normal but I noticed no difference than normal for speed/rpm once trimmed out.

I still need to work on how I strap my dink down but I'm getting there. One step at a time.

thats great. Awesome you can almost fully use the platform still. Did you have the length in the slip without issue? I want to switch to a 60’ because we hang pretty far out with ours out back

Ohh not even close on the length :). I'm in a 40' slip so my transom is beyond the end of the dock by 2+' even before the swim platform starts. It's one of the great pleasures of my summers - using transient slips in other ports that are long enough to allow us to walk off the platform.

A 60' slip would be awesome.
