40 sedan bridge forum

My dog Tiko is looking for the snap-in carpets for the stairs leading to the bridge on our '01 400 Sedan. Unfortunately we never received any with the purchase. I believe they fit the same from '96 to '02. He would like to try them out to see if they will help him climb and descend the stairs to the bridge as they are quite slippery for him with just the nonskid. We will probably eventually go teak or some kind of faux-teak in the future but just not in the budget right now. I am not worried about the backing as we have a cheap, quick fix thanks to CSR. Thought somebody might not be using them anymore and still have them kicking around. Let me know if anyone is willing to part with them or maybe a place I can order them from. Thanks!

We were missing only the starboard steps and had those made to match the rest. Shouldn't be too bad if you have a good marine carpet person nearby. Don't know of a place to order them off the shelf, but maybe one of the CSR sponsors has the template.

Good luck!

Had infinity vinyl flooring installed in the bridge and cockpit this weekend. So far very happy with the product which absorbs no water...rained hard this morning and within 15 mins after it stopped the cockpit was dry.

Thought I would share my initial impression and a few pics in the event anyone is looking to replace the carpet.

Hey Milestone. I am in the process of laying down Infinity in my boat. Did the cockpit and cut out the bridge. I want to avoid cutting the slits to fit the flooring around the captains chairs pedestals. Does your installation have the slit on the outside (can't tell from this picture), or did the installers find a way to remove and re-install the captains chairs?

Bill, I'd think the chair would seperate from the base, allowing the installer to avoid the slit.

Thanks. Yes, I finally figured that out. There's another thread in General Maintenance that I started about it.

Here are some pics I took yesterday of the new canvas we just had made. It replaces what was there before with the exception of clear vinyl all the way down in on the aft section of the bridge, and all the way to the bikini top from the radar arch. The center sections above and below the radar arch roll up or can be easily removed.

The last pic is how the canvas was configured previously. Some of you may recall we had painted the teal canvas black. It worked perfectly to get us to a point of replacing the canvas.

just to have an idea if you dont mind, how much was the cost for your new canvas it looks great
thanks for sharing

it looks great
can you also put a picture of the salon, i am thinking of doing the exact same thing

are you still happy with your decision, or you will recommend something else now?
Feliz Dream
Yes, very happy. It was such an easy and inexpensive upgrade. And its solid vinyl so its very durable. I haven't done the salon yet. I still have four boxes of flooring under the bed in the mid-berth waiting for that install. I keep bumping it down the list to do other things. But its finally at the top of the list and I'll make sure to post pictures when I am done.

What table are people using in the cockpit? I'm considering putting a flush mount pedestal table something wide and long enough for our rear seat but still room to pass. Any info and or pictures would be greatly appreciated

I have a question. I'm not sure if all the boats are the same. My boat has a breaker switch and key for each engine in the electrical panel. The ignition switches are on the panel in the bridge. Is there any problem with leaving the keys and breaker switches on all the time?

On another subject, next to the helm there is a boat with multiple lights on it. There is a test switch on it also. Whenever something comes on it lights up. It worked fine last year. Now it doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

You are energizing the switches on the helm if you leave the key on and breaker on. So that just means someone could walk up to your bridge when you aren't there, fire it up and take it away.

I have the "newer" systems monitor with the two line display rather than the indicator lights on the diagram of the boat. When mine failed I had to replace it. You could try cycling power to it and see what happens.

None for us. We'd rather have extra seating space so we have two Polywood folding chairs rather than a table. Some sort of swing away table might be cool, though. Mount it to the starboard sidewall and swing it in and out when you do/don't need it. Disclaimer: Just an idea that just now popped into my head.

While in a question asking mood. The shower in the master head. When I turn on the hot water, I usually set it about halfway. Yesterday it decided to turn itself all the way up. You could watch it turn on it's own. Any ideas how to fix that?

Hi, there
i am looking to buy a sea ray 400 sedan bridge with cummins 450 hp Diamind, the boat needs engines to be rebuilt, anyone has any idea how difficult is to remove theses engines from the boat, and the approximately cost for rebuilt with Cummins? i am getting the boat at a good price because of the bad engines.
any help is appreciated. Thanks

The engines have to come out through the salon. Which means you need to take the sliding glass doors out. There is about at the marina I go to that had his Cummings replaced. He bought rebuilds. His tab for doing both was right around $100k. That's here in NY.

Noticed today the port electric was out. Found the GFI in the port head was tripped and wouldn't hold reset. Narrowed it down to the ice maker. Anyone have this issue before? assuming I'm pulling it.

I have just bought a 2003 Sedan Bridge 400... does anyone know where I can get sun pads for the foredeck?... I contacted Sea Ray and they no longer manufacture them so I am assuming it would need to be after market?... I'm also guessing any canvas/upholstery manufacturer could make them provided they have the pattern(s)... but that's the gotcha (I fear)... all and any suggestions appreciated

Thanks

I have a 400 sedan bridge that Dana at TK Canvas made a three piece pad for the bow. Both outer pads have adjustable back rests, center was fixed. Holds lots of people, kids love it! About $2K installed. Gets lots of use. Dana is in Fort Lauderdale.
