Thanks for the pics. For that little bit of non structral rot you might consider Get Rot.

Same thing happened on my 400DA. I cut all of the wood out and ground the inside areas to good clean glass. Then epoxied in Teak and coated the Teak with epoxy resin. Then replaced the plywood the vinyl was attached to with marine ply and a coat of epoxy over that also.Had the joy of taking apart a transom door today. Metal trim ring is screwed to door. Vinyl covered panel is Christmas trees over top that into the door. A wood lip all the way around provides anchoring if screws and Christmas trees. On this one all that wood is rotted. I am going to have to figure out how to replace it. Will need new Christmas trees. These are brittle and breaking easily.

Got all the rotten wood dug out. It was all wet and completely disintegrated into mush. Now to cut some triangular pvc planks to bed in epoxy in the three troughs. I’m not putting any wood back in. The vinyl panel on this one is starboard. So it’s fine.Same thing happened on my 400DA. I cut all of the wood out and ground the inside areas to good clean glass. Hey Bill,
I can’t help, mine doesn’t leak, but it’s a different latch. Yours didn’t look familiar so I went looking through my pictures and this is all I could come up with. Zoom in to see the difference. When it’s closed it is water tight. The latch body hold water. When I turn the latch handle to open it, the water in it then leaks through.

Figured your spiffy last off the line 2004 would have all the upgraded wiz bang hardware. I’m going to try filling the swivel gap with a heavy grease and see what happens.Hey Bill,

Both of my hatch drain plastic elbows leak just enough to drip on the generator battery and the main batteries. I’m going to rebed those. Might be what you are seeing. This is the one I have as well. I don’t know if it leaks or not. I think my hatch leaks because I do notice water on the batteries after a hard rain, even with the canvas up. Like many others, the water seems to enter across the second step and drips down the front of the door to the ice maker/fridge/storage area. Next canvas I get will block that area better.
In my case, also a 2001, the elbow on the port side was cracked and leaking onto the batteries. Just like Mark, I couldn't source an exact replacement, so I ended up making a Frankenelbow from two different parts and then bedding the whole thing thoroughly. Has been dry for a couple of seasons so far. Both of my hatch drain plastic elbows leak just enough to drip on the generator battery and the main batteries. I’m going to rebed those. When I was a kid and my dad got me mechanical or electronic stuff, first thing I did was take it apart to see how it was built. 50% of the time I could put it back together so it worked normally. You are a bold, bold man, bill…

Just finished my first attempt at a simple fix. I packed the swivel cavity full of electrical putty. Passed the initial test. Not a drop of water got through. We will see what happens over time. Constant rotating may slowly work the putty out the gap on the bottom. Here’s a new one for me. Ever since I’ve had the boat the generator gets wet and rainwater fills the pan under the generator with water. The cockpit is always open, no canvas. I finally crawled in there today while it was raining and found the culprit. It’s the latch for the engine room hatch. Water runs in through the gap in the swivel. It’s not close to water tight. Anyone have an suggestions? I may have to rig up some kinda of cover for the latch that keeps water out of it.
