40 sedan bridge forum

Couple of window tint install pics. I used a guy that was experienced with cars for 20 years and retired to our lake. He did an amazing job. In the 2nd pic, you can see before and after. Find someone with experience that really knows what they're doing. Not the 24 year old from the local car stereo shop that "says" that he can do it. I talked to several of them, and paid that price on my last boat. Even if you have to pay them to travel a bit. It's a tough job with huge windows, tough access, irregular rubber weatherstripping to trim around, and compound curves.
Looks great. I have spoke to a few good guys about this. Did you use ceramic 3M?
The reason I ask is I want to know if it cuts down on the heat coming through. Also do you remember what percent tint you used?

I put a cheap 12" kicker sub in a box in mine after I pulled the ice maker out, mostly because I had the extra amp space left over. My main subs are (2) 10's on the flybridge. It just sits in there shoved to the back (port side) and allows tons of space in front of it for storage of dock lines, float saddles, etc.

great idea. And super simple. I wanted a sub in the cockpit. This could be perfect.

I used the 3M ceramic at a 5%...

Tint question: Tinting is great for keeping light out during the day. But does it appreciably darken the interior during the day? And equally important, if you're in a marina at night, with the cabin lights on, can people see in?

I'm fairly certain that we went with 5%. Mostly for privacy from our dock neighbors, and we do not have a lower helm. Nobody is sight seeing from the dinette while under way. I considered the ceramic. Had the same guy do a friends boat, and he used it. Cost was twice for material, which in the big scheme of things was maybe an extra $200. Our boat sits under a covered dock, so heat gain was not a huge issue. I can tell you that even regular tint made a huge difference with the AC. I think we paid $600 for tint and install. We did not do the sliding door. I would have liked to. We have a dog that goes to the boat with us, and I was afraid that he might eventually scratch it if he happened to jump up on it.

The festoon bulbs used in the cockpit side lighting, does anyone know off the top of their head which size?

41, 42 MM?

I was thinking about adding the speakers to the arch like I did on my other boat. I circled where I would add the speakers to point down to the people swimming. I feel because it is strong to stand on, then it is strong enough to put two speakers on. Thoughts?

Certainly could. I've considered that myself. Running wire is not tough. I hung a camera in the spot where your circle is on top of the inspection plate on mine. Love being able to see what's happening in my cockpit from the helm when I have a lot of guests on board. It plugs into my chart plotter. If I remember, I "think" the arch is aluminum.

Seems like really large speakers. Who are you hoping will hear them besides those on the boat?

Do you recall which camera you purchased?

I bought a KJM C70 from a yacht supply place in Florida off of Ebay. Sold as used, but when I received it, it was new in the box and never mounted. I picked it up for $79. That particular camera is pretty pricey new. Here's a link:

I have almost the same thing as drafter but didn't tie the cameras to my new MFD yet.
This is my temporary solution until I network my electronics. Admittedly his camera is was nicer but mine does a pretty good job.

I used this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/DAY-NIGHT-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I made an offer of $125, and he accepted. Works perfect.

I am usually the middle boat that plays the music for everyone on my dock out on the water.
I can relate to this....There is always that one guy with the air conditioner, bathroom, great food, and a margarita machine. All of the girls always seem to be on that boat, and never with the bald guy in the Baja. Weird...
