340 SUNDANCER THREAD

I had the same issue with my windless, 02 Dancer. There is a solenoid mounted on the forward engine bulkhead in the very middle in front of the battery's. It is tight getting down there. Mine was burnt and partiallly melted. I replaced it and it has been working fine .

Kreole Kid,

My breaker don't have the red reset button :(
I bypassed the breaker by connecting the red cables together, the symtoms are still the same. Clicking windlass solenoid, but button don't enlight...

Cap, so you're saying it's more of of junction connecting the wires together?

Cap, you might try manually tripping it by pulling it down, then check your voltage on the upside to see what you are reading then push it back up and recheck voltage. Other than that, I'm Stumped too :smt017

Hello all,
Quick question regarding my 03 340 DA. Stereo worked last week. Yesterday it powered up, all speaker switches were on, all functions worked but no sound. Any suggestions? Also where is the amp located on this boat?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Mark, assuming the 03 340 is similar to the 02, I had a similar issue. It turned out mine was a connector under the helm that corroded and broke. The amp is located behind the panel where the stereo head is, behind the dinette. Mine was not getting power to the amp, but was to the head unit, so it appeared it was powering up, but the amp was not. Rob

Can anyone tell me what their experience has been as far as price/hours to have the impellers changed on the engines and generator for the 8.1 HOs? I was shocked when I received a bill for $1,000 for this task. Marina explained it took 3 hours per engine and 1.5 for the gen to get these changed!Rob

Cost me about $100 an engine for parts... I have 7.4s and the impeller is easy to change. Takes about 2 hours an engine. I also change the coolant when I change the impellers...

I have 7.4's and it takes 2-3 hours for both engines and generator. The biggest issue is removing port side exhaust to make accessing pump easier.

That is overpriced IMO. My guy can do both mains and the genny in 2 to 2.5 hours.

Had both of my 8.1 impellor's changed last year. Parts $69.84 and labor $285. Did the Genny myself for $27. They charged 1 hour labor for Starboard engine and 1 1/2 hour for the Portside engine.

Bob,

Where did you have the impellers replaced?

Alex,
Pier 53. (At Cedar Point, but the invoice went through their office on Catawba) They also added the usual shop supply fee ($18.53), and tax.

Changing the impellers on the 8.1's is no small task and certainly not for the faint of heart. I found that the only way to do it on the engines was to remove parts of the exhaust (very simple to do) in order to gain access to the area you need to work in. That being said, I would say $1000 is criminal. Even with removing the parts I was able to do the job in about 1.5 hours and more quickly on the second engine than the first. As far as the generator is concerned that was a 5 minute job since the impeller is found directly off the back of the machine. A bit of contorting to get to it but very, very easy to do. I think I'd challenge that bill if it were me.

OK my 99 340 has not come in yet. Being shipped, so is the shore power 50 amp or 30 amp any help would be appreciated. Working on the stereo charging system, well its being designed. Thanks

Guys, thanks for all the responses. I felt the bill was a bit much! I believe the mechanic decided to make a day long project of my boat and had to bill his 8 hours! Changing gears, my 340 is also twin 30 amp shore power. Rob
