According to the Sea Ray website, they didn't offer a mattress upgrade, although they did offer fitted sheets for the v-berth. I've been thinking about adding a memory foam topper, but I'm concerned about the size of the v-berth. I'd like to hear what others have done to either replace the mattress or add a topper.

Mattress - we got a king 4" memory foam topper from Costco, and I cut it to fit with an electric knife (turned the mattress upside down over the foam and cut the same hull "angles"). Works great - like sleeping on a Tempur-pedic.

Batteries - port pair are house and port engine starting. Stbd pair are helm, stbd engine starting, and genny starting.

The light switch to the v-berth lights is located under the AC control unit on the starboard side of the boat. This fix is EASY. Just loosen that switch under the AC control and you will see 2 wires on one side of the switch and one wire on the other side. One of the wires on the side with 2 wires is the wire that feeds the v-berth reading lights. Just take that wire and move it to the hot side of the switch and they will always be on as long as the cabin switch in the entryway is on. Now you will be able to operate the reading lights at the head of the v-berth with their own switch and not worry about lighting up the whole cabin with the switch under the AC control panel. The switch under the AC control will now just control the lights in the mid cabin and will not have to be turned on to work the v-berth lights. I hope this makes sense.

Time to start getting ready for the winter project list... The first thing on my list is the lighting. I have a 2006 340. All of the cabin lights, with the exception of the floor lights, run off of the switch by the cabin door. Not all of the cabin lights have a secondary switch, but the ones that do I want to be on a seperate circuit or put a secondary switch on the ones that are not. This will enable me to crawl into the v-berth and then shut off the forward berth lights and turn on the light in the head in the middle of the night without waking everyone else up.

I read through the earlier posts and tried to go back and find the ones that explained how to do this, but this site is not very search friendly. Can someone help me?

eauty that's a great description and makes perfect sense. I've wanted the same option too. Thanks!

The speaker in the aft area for the drop down TV buzzes, no other sound from video etc. I can't figure out how to remove the speaker cover to access the speaker. Help!

get a pick tool and gently pull around the sides taking care not to tear the cloth and pull it out slowly. it will come out.

New User and love reading all the old threads. on second 340 dancer and still loving it. Had water leak into cabin and read threads to uncover and hopefully we will find it but want to replace carpet. While I recognize it is somewhat a "what's your own preference" anyone out there felt the "fake teak" made the cabin look richer, or does it make the cabin look smaller?

thanks

I had a similar issue with old cabin carpeting in my 2002 340, and replaced it with wood flooring and teak trim. Details can be found on my blog, in the April 15 and April 22 postings. My wife and I love it- easy to clean, looks great, and very durable.

Speaking of carpeting. I just purchased my 2006 340 this year. When I pulled the snap in carpeting to clean them, the black backing was disintegrating and I had black powder all over the non-skid. Is there anything that I can to do repair them or do I just need to bite the bullet and replace them?

There are several threads in the general forums that talk about repairing the carpet backing.

Hello! I am new to this forum, we have owned our 1989 Sundancer 340 for 2 years now. We are in the process of re-doing all of the outside deck...upholstery, canvas, carpet, etc. We have the 2 piece wooden door entry to cabin where the top is a tri-fold. That top piece is broken and Sea Ray, of course, is saying the part is discontinued. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to find a replacement? We have spoken to cabinet makers, and many others and it is not repairable.

Other than this, the boat is awesome, it's our third boat and we will keep her for many years!

Thank you for any advise you may offer on our cabin door.

Hi all,

First winter with our 340. Texas ( some cold weather), so getting a lot of local advise about winterizing.

Several people have mentioned using sometype of foam blocks to stuff in the vents - help keep the warmth from the bilge heater in. Anyone have any ideas where to find foam blocks? What kind of store would you go to?

thanks

I believe what most people do is cut styrofoam to fit form packing they have laying around. I would cover the styrofoam in tape to keep it from falling a part...

you can try flounder pounder, but I doubt that thy have the piece. Proably the best pack to fine the door would be a boat junk yard... There will probably be a lot of totaled boats going to junk yards in the Northeast. I have seen boat like yours aground in the woods near me... Its a mess here on the NJ shore...

There seem to be a few "techniques" to extend the life of the black rubber carpet backing - one is to use some rubber tool handle dip - its available at HD. That works well if it is just a small area that is deteriorating. Skip (here on CSR) uses a white rubber compound that he gets at Lowe's - its for mobile home roofs I believe and you roll it on the entire backing of the rug. JediJD (here on CSR) got some diamond plate rubber flooring - I think at HD - and he cut it to fit under his cockpit carpets. It really pads it well and reduces the non-skid abrasion that the black rubber backing can get. I'm sure they will either chime in or you could PM them.

We are new to the Club Sea Ray website. We just purchased our first Sea Ray 2001 Sundancer 340. We have a complete factory tan canvas top set including eisen glass that we would like to sell. It is in excellent condition and the only reason it is not being used is because we purchased the boat with two sets of tops and we are keeping the black square back canvas set up. What is a a fair price? Please make us an offer. Call Ron at 414-840-6537.

I would call Great Lakes canvas and ask them what your pieces would retail for. Then I would discount that price by 50% and that would be what I would ask. Great Lakes offer a 20% discount for CSR members, and the guarentee ther products and provide excellent customer service. So even though they are new, the most I would ask would be 1/2 the retail price... I believe your askin price will be around $800 to $1K for a complete canvas set with zippers, and snaps....
