340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Well I went out to the boat last night and removed both speakers in the ceiling to see if I could view any leaking from the windshield wiper motors and I couldn't SEE ANYTHING!!!

Any hoot , I think I might be on to something, the caulk line on the helm just right of the sliding door appears to be the culprit. I ran a hose lightly over this area and I did see SOME water come through, not a lot but some. I really think its coming through via the channel that the door slides on. This is gonna be a pita to access and back out the screws to reseal!!! Any suggestions on doing this??? Also I bought some "Captn Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure" on the advice of a pier mate. Anyone ever use this or should I seal it with something bigger as this is in a liquid form that hardens after it sets?
Where do I buy that tan colored caulk to reseal the dash piece?

My best cruise is 22.5 kts at 3400 RPM, burning 15 GPH per side. That's at about 16.5K of weight (full fuel, full water, empty holding tank, 3 people). My top speed is 33 kts at 4700 RPM burning 30 GPH per side. At displacement cruise, I get 8 kts burning 4 GPH per side...

Sorry Bruce. Glad they are not leaking though...

Just got done changing the duckbill valves on the vacuflush. Fun Fun Fun!!!!! Did them from the aft cabin. Not to bad of a job. 2 Hrs:grin:

Ok guys, I found an "Almond" color caulk last night at Lowes. I recaulked the joint last night. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Also the door stop that's located behind the gauge panel wasn't screwed all the way down. But when I tightened it down I noticed the screw almost coming through the headliner in the cabin, so I backed it out a little. I also reached up a little further to torque down a couple of the screws in the door track. I hope and pray this solves my leak problem.

Anyone have a 340 with diesels? Sportsman model maybe. Looking for info on how it performs with the Yanmars and fuel consumption.

340 DA 2002 Gas Gauge
My starboard gas gauge does not work. I found the plastic port in the back cabinette that is above the sender but have not idea how to remove sender. My arms just to bend in three places.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix?

thanks you for you help

OK, as I promised, I have found a way to mount a 26" flat screen in the earlier (99-02) 340 DAs. Basically, I fabricated a swiveling bracket for the TV, that mounts to the bulkhead just above the mid stateroom. This bracket is hinged, so when the TV is not in use, it is held firmly up against the bulkhead. For use, the TV pivots down, and can be viewed by anyone in the cabin. In either position, the TV is locked in place.

This first pic shows the bracket being fabricated in the milling machine:

When the bracket is in the "down" position, a brace swings out to hold the TV securely. Both pieces are seen in the next pic, after assembly and painting:

The next couple pics show the TV mounted in both the "up" and "down" positions, with a close up of the locking mechanism.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to provide answers. The wiring is completely revised for this install, and the coaxial cables are re-routed as well. I'll try to get more details up on my blog this weekend....

Help!!, i just purchased a 2007 340 Dancer with a "semi hard" top, (sunbrella over aluminum framing). it had to be removed for transportation. I am having two problems, the first, feeding the top through the channel, it binds up when i get to thye turn in the sunbrella. Two, it laces at the back, not sure how. Any instructions would be great as i don't live anywhere near a Sea ray dealer or a qualified boat yard. Help would be greatly appreciated.J Henry

Two solutions for that one. Remove the extender pole, the one with the holes in it, and run it through. Second take it to a good canvas person and have them install a zipper in it. Either way works. Good luck with your new boat.

Not enough material to put a zipper in. It laces something like a shoe, the two sides don't touch. There are no extender poles with holes in it. My system is referred to as a semi hard top. The canvas almost wraps around aluminum piping, this is where the lacing comes in.

I'm sure the information is in here somewhere but my search feature keeps saying 0 results?
I'm looking at a nice clean 2004 340 (200 hours), it's black (I love the black ty), decent electronics, slope canvas, cherry interior, genny, 6.2's... and no dinghy. I'm curious about the engine size and what something like this sells for nowadays?
I spend most of my time putting but... I can't stand boats that struggle to stay on plane.

I think most will agree that the 6.2's are underpowered for the 340. 7.4's most say are as well. 8.1's seem to be the preferred power plant. Those 6.2's could affect your resale as well. Good luck.

it will be underpowered, and may use more gas because you will need more to get up and go.
200 hours and you are going to be replacing a few thing from lack of use over the years. upside will be price as most people don't want 6.2

I have yet another newbie question. New to Searay, new to central vac system. Manuals don't tell you how to turn it on, in fact manuals, (searay) don't refer to it at all and it was factory installed. Even my 1st mate can't get it started. BTW, It's a Beam.
Thanks
