2005 300DA
Some 120VAC outlets not working
The head and galley area outlets are working. No power at the aft cabin and cockpit outlet under the sink. Any ideas? I thought they were all on one circuit
There are two GFI outlets... One in compartment above and to the right of the head... and the other in the mid berth under the stairs on the wall facing the bow.

Does anyone happen to know if the original metal/stainless spotlight on a 2005 300DA is a Guest or Jabsco? I need to get a replacement bulb and didnt think to look as I was leaving the marina Saturday night in the dark. Both bulbs/filaments blew as we were pulling into the pier at dusk. In googling it looks like several have the same look.

I am thinking guest because of the angled back. Anyone changed the bulb? Easy to do?

The parts manual says it's 5" SS Guest ( I don't have this option though )

Although I thought I read somewhere that Jabsco acquired Guest and the part numbers have changed

I'm considering replacing the factory installed North Star NS100 VHF radio. I'm trying to find the transceiver the antennae connects to. Does anyone have experience replacing the NS100? Where did the factory hide the "box"? If it is under the helm, how do gain access to it?

I'm having my starboard engine removed and rebuilt. While it's out I'm going to replace my badly corroded hot water heater. I run in salt water (Great South Bay, NY) and don't want an aluminum HWH. I want one with a stainless steel tank. I'm considering a Isotemp SPA 25 Marine Water Heater - 6.5 gallons. Here's a link:

There are two versions 115 volt or 230 volt. Which is appropriate for my 2002 Sundancer 300?

Is anyone familiar with this HWH?

Thanks.

In one place it mentions a heat exchanger. But in the description it doesnt say anything about that. That is one feature of a WATER HEATER that I personally like. But I dont have a gennie to run off of. But looks like a great one.

A good "on demand" or tankless water heater would be best. Those take very little room. I'm not sure of a 110v electric one.

You'd want the 110 version

In the pic, those connections with the yellow would be for the heat exchanger. Is your current HWH hooked up to the stbd engine to make use of the heat exchanger?

I assume you mean the 115 version -- correct?

I'm not sure about it being connected to the starboard engine for the heat exchanger; I'll have to check on that. My boat does not have a generator.

Yes, sorry. You might find the heat exchanger lines disconnected. Mine were when I got the boat. The in/out on the tank were corroded so the PO must have removed the hoses and puts plugs in their place on the engine.

I would recommend checking to see if whatever water heater you end up selecting has a stainless heat exchanger. THAT is the part that always dies. The water tank itself (in my experience) does not rot out. It is the corrosion of the connections for the recirculating heat exchanger that rot out due to salt water corrosion. We had a 17 yr old Atwood that was going strong on shore power and generator even though the heat exchanger connections rotted out 4 seasons ago. I replaced it with a Kuuma 6gal water heater with the heat exchanger while my motors were being replaced over the winter. Very happy.

Edit -- I do not know if there are any with stainless heat exchangers. My point was that the stainless tank doesn't provide a lot of value in my opinion.

So Marinco bought Guest. Mine is a Model 22040A 5" spotlight.
Part Numbers:
  • Bulb - 22014-P
  • Rubber Rim (seal part around the bulb and front bezel) - 22093
  • Rubber Boot (if needed goes inside around the gimbal and inside the spotlight housing) - 22032. (apparently this is replaceable but not as simple as the front seal/rim).

So the Marinco tech support guy got me all the numbers, and forwarded me to customer service to place the order. They said sorry we dont sell to the public (ANNOYING). So now I'm working with a local boat store to special order parts.

Anyone ever seen anything like this? I have a yellow fluid that is leaking out around the battery / breaker switch panel. It seems corrosive as it's rusting the back of the battery compartment latch and also the stainless screws in the compartment in the panel. I've cleaned it up several times, thinking that I had a leak in the arch, but have sealed everything up there. I've checked the batteries which are below this area, but they look ok and are sealed AGM batteries. The only other thing nearby is the cockpit fridge, which does apparently have a few ounces of yellowish refrigerant, but in talking with a tech, the fridge wouldn't get cool if it was leaking.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. It seems to only show up after we've used the boat for the weekend and come back and turn everything off. Then it's there the next time. It DID NOT show up the last two times we were on the boat and had strong rain. The yellowish fluid does not dry up, and seems slightly oily so I'm leaning toward the fridge... Just cannot figure out how it would be getting over to that area since there is a panel in-between. Perhaps a tiny pin-hole leak in the coil which is putting out a tiny but forceful stream of the fluid? Still it didnt show up while the fridge was on, just once we left and it was powered off/warm.

Help! and Thanks.
