240 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I'm curious, do you actually use the forward ladder? I find it very difficult to use from the water in my boat.

It's used when the boat is beached. It doesn't hang low enough for this old body to climb up from the water.

Unfortunately looks like a job I too have to tackle at some point this season. I have pressure at the outset of use but it doesn't rebuild pressure to run it continuously. I first tried cleaning the steel filter and all the nozzles. I was surprised at all the gunk and buildup despite using water treatment every time I fill up.

I may have to practice up on my yoga poses to contortion myself to be in a position to reach it and work on it comfortably.

I read his last night and whamo... my pump is out this AM.

has anyone replaced the head/toilet on their boat. my pull out handle broke and it doesn't look like an easy fix. anyone know how to disconnect the toilet from boat?

Water leaking into table storage/trash cabinet..

On our 240SD...Could not figure out why when we would encounter a lot of rain, that the interior of the cabinet where the table storage/trash can is located would be very damp, in fact, often soaked...until I notice that the cup holders in the sink area are not anchored down anymore to the counter completely ( it visibly appears flush with the countertop, but it lifts up when gently nudged upward) and although they still have the drain from the cup holder itself still intact, the foam gasket has pulled up slightly breaking the seal and I am sure this is the source of water leaking into the cabinet.

Anyone else have this issue? Any good fixes to either re-adhere the foam gasket back or otherwise, neatly, seal it back?

David

The foam will just breakdown again (the cupholders are shipped to Sea Ray from the manufacturer with the tape already applied). BoatLife LifeSeal is a better way - just a little bit is all you need.

I just had the same problem with my cup holders. All I did was lift the cup holder up alittle and put a bunch of silicone all the way around than wipe off the excess. I only did this yesterday so I have no idea how well it worked.

so assume you mean I need to remove the foam entirely and then use the LifeSeal product?

I just applied the silicone. My gaskets were so thin and half missing anyways. I put about a 1/4 to 3/8 inch bead of silicone all the way around each cup holder about a 1/2 inch down from the lip at the top. That way the silicone would get pulled down between cup holder and the surface.
If that doesn't work I'll either clean it all up and do it again this time with another good sized bead from under the wet bar as well or just use some 5200.

Does anyone have a source to purchase a bow tent like this.
Im interested in purchasing one like this.

I found this in this thread from back in 2011 but I do not see any source.

Thanks

Without me going back and looking that up , it seems as if a members neighbor, friend, spouse, something had made that from his idea. ( but I'm hot, tired and old so I could be wrong )

I remember the tent. You are going to have to go to a local canvas maker to have it done. As no 2 boats are exactly the same it's gonna have to be custom fit to your boat. It'll also cost upwards of $1000 if I remember correctly.

Just bought a used '06 240SD and the previous owner kept the cooler that goes in the storage area under the helm. I presume it is supposed to be an Igloo Marine cooler but do any of you know which size? Or are there any better options for that space?

It is built to fit a 36 quart Igloo Marine Cooler. I couldn't find one locally, but West Marine has them for $50.00
I have one, but I am considering rebuilding the runners to hold a larger cooler, since the 36 is a little small, and isn't insulated that well.

Re: Water leaking into table storage/trash cabinet..

Can someone help me with how to replace the ignition switch in a 2001 240 Sundeck. I have the switch already from SeaRay.

Chuck I assume it is the same as on the 2006. Disconnect the battery. Then pull the switch. Just a few wires that need to be connected to the new switch. I had to reconnect them miss judy once.

The decals on the side of my 95 sundeck are pretty faded so im looking to take them off and replace them. I tried a local striping store to see if they could make them and they said it would be very expensive. I'm curious if anyone with a 95 to 99 sundeck has removed their stripes or replaced them with something non stock. I would love to see some pictures of boats without the stripes or with something different.
