2017 Memorial Day Raft-up in Zach's Bay

Since the weather is not looking favorable for Thursday we may continue with our typical plan of heading down on Friday even though forecast is showing rain on Friday as well.

i'll be in zachs bay saturday. the show starts alot later this year. used to start at 10am. i dont think anyone on this forum lives closer to zachs than i do. im literally couple minutes from there. as for anyone worried about channels being marked, they arent marked the greatest, but it doesnt matter. the whole bay will be a parking lot that day so just follow along the path. plus there will be police and bay constable boats everywhere. biggest tip is when the show is over, wait awhile for all the wizards to leave and then pull anchor. otherwise youll be fighting all the traffic to get outta there. you will go through the big meadowbrook after coming through the inlet. then keep heading east until you come to the third wantagh bridge. thats the second bridge. if anyone has other navigational questions please ask. oh and dont forget that people driving to air show by car will be utilizing the two mentioned bridges, which means it'll prob be a disaster to get them open around show time.

I noticed that as well - Show starts at noon - not sure why.
in any event, our plans are to arrive Friday night and leave monday. Just look for the raft up of lots of boats. Beer and Laughs are a requirement. hope we get some decent weather.

Dean, were leaving Huntington around 4-5 pm Friday let me know what your plan ends up being so I can try and make radio contact with you.

Can't wait to see everyone! I Started provisioning the boat already.

Nah, I think that is all you need......just make sure you have enough to share. :)

We plan on leaving Branford CT about 4 PM and arriving at the statue around 6PM.

In fairness it is about 70nm, and we will do that in a little under 2 hours provided we do not need to slow down much when we pass Joe.... Joe, you better strap down the fine china!

I'll get the drone out and try to catch you going by.

I can get a bigger rooster tail!!

is there room for all of you behind the statue?

If everyone does not object, we may need to push the Wine Party to Sunday night. The friends that we had coming out to join us on Sunday (Thanks Ron for being the ferry captain) may end up coming out Saturday, if the weather reports continue to say Saturday is the better day of the weekend. If they do come out Saturday, hosting the Wine Party that night maybe a bit too much for one day. I will let everyone know as soon as we know our friends' plans.

So me and my crew will be in Zach's on Friday night. My plan is to leave my dock at or before 5pm. I should be in Zach's around 6pm.

Looking at the forecast of the wind for the weekend, it appears that the prevailing winds are going to shift 180 degrees on Saturday morning. Guess we are going to have some fun moving the raft up.....again.
