2017 Memorial Day Raft-up in Zach's Bay

.......Looking at the forecast of the wind for the weekend, it appears that the prevailing winds are going to shift 180 degrees on Saturday morning. Guess we are going to have some fun moving the raft up.....again.

We wish for the wind to clock in the morning. From what I see, the shift is predicted approximately between 11am and 2pm on Sat. If that holds true, that's going to be very entertaining. Whoever has the stern anchors, please review your rig. We'll need all the help we can get from those anchors.

I just spoke to the Town of Hempstead inquiring about the Pump Out Boat and found out that it will NOT be operating this weekend. So anyone attending this weekend should plan accordingly.

(The pump out boat may not be operating the entire summer, but could not get details as to why)

Local pump outs are Wantagh, Freeport and Point Lookout, but all a PIA to get too given the airshow traffic...........

So I went to the boat last night. Did some stuff to get ready for this weekend. Went to start the Generator and nothing. I hoping my mechanic can get there today and its a quick fix. Don't think I'll be able to talk the wife and kids into going if its not running...Always something

I asked what the reason was and if it was a budget thing, but she said that she really should not say and then said “I just work here.” Must be some kind of story behind it, but I could not get an answer. I guess it is time to call my town politician and see what my tax dollars are doing.

Earlier I had mentioned that I was interested in meeting up behind the statue for Friday night. I think my wife spoke to Dean or his wife about it on text too. Anyway, that's not going to happen anymore. My 8 y.o. daughter got a concussion last weekend, and she's still feeling the effects (mainly a bad headache). So I don't think a 5 hour cruise to NY would be the wisest decision given her state. We're all bummed. Have a great trip everyone, and be safe out there.

I'm about 200 yards behind you guys. That Ocean Alexander with the green hull is about 100 yards off my starboard bow. The Carver is about 100 yards off my starboard bow midway between me an the Ocean Alexander. Hope the weather holds out another couple of hours.
