2009 Charleston Rendezvous

Thanks, sure that would work fine. In fact, Beerbob could go early and get my boat plugged in and cleaned up, and all could gather on the dock there. However, I don't think I'll have to be late; my wife is pretty persuasive. Rant: Why would a school schedule a graduation for the Friday before Memorial Day? :smt021

A Lot of them are that way this year. See I'm not the only one that thought Memorial day weekend was the last weekend of May (Grin)

Does this look right.

Not sure why it shrunk, but Friday night is in the up right hand (red push pin) and Saturday night is in the lower center.

Looks right to me. I guess you don't mean for us to follow all your tracks. Running the Dewees Inlet isn't for the faint of heart except at high tide. Looks easy until you get almost out and the depths suddenly go down.

After the day I've had, I wish it was the 21st. Ive only had time to eat a ham sandwich ALL DAY. But things are looking up, the kitchen smells good, and supper will be served, sooooon.
Sadler, don't take us into a trap, (refereing to Deweys inlet). We are depending on you to be our fearless (and trust worthey) leader. It would make a cool calender pic for next year, to see 6 Sea Rays lodged on a sand bar. I must warn everyone. Janet is sneaky with her camera.
I CAN'T WAIT, Keep this thread alive. Nicky

Don't worry. Unless Chuck has some local knowledge about Dewees, we'll stay away. I've run it in my boat (about 5 years ago), but it was on a rising tide near high, and I had a friend in the lead in a 16' outboard, calling out the depths to me on the radio as we went. Very exhilarating after we made it.

Yes, the Dewees looked very interesting just laid out a route route if the planets aligned correctly(Grin)
I even thought about a route from Saturdays Raft-up on the outside back to Charleston.

The route outside from Saturday's raft up, the Stono Inlet, I have only run four or five times (for one, see my post Offshore in a 290) and have a two year old track on my plotter. It's a much safer inlet than Dewees. I started out that inlet a few months ago and the markers and my track were clearly wrong and taking me into the breakers, and we were just going out for a look, so I did a 180. There are places I recall from earlier runs where it looks like you are heading into the breakers, but this was different: the breakers were dead ahead almost right away. I need to work my out again to update my track. Maybe if conditions are just right, we can consider going home that way. I'll ask around at the marina to see if anyone has an up to date track.

A really fun inlet if you want adventure is the Lighthouse Inlet over at Morris Island. You really need to know the way in, but once in, it's quite nice with the lighthouse and all. Nice place to anchor too. I've got a fairly recent track there, but then again things are always changing. We could take the back way to Morris Island if we have time and the tide is right.

Ack!

Sorry guys we are REALLY sorry we cannot make it... employment issues are a direct conflict and I have to make what I can while I can. Reading this thread is killing me :(

Sadler you've got my email. I would really like the track if you it handy.
Thanks Chuck

Any body checked the long range weather forecast? Did not look good, hoping it will change.

Sadler, Chuck, just keep up the good work. I'm just sitting back looking and learning, don't let the weather worry you, its spring in the south.

Sadler is the name of your marina Riversedge Marina?
Chuck and others, what time are ya'll meeting at the ramp?
I'm asking these questions because I might drop the boat in, in Charleston with ya'll. My friend hurt his back and is going to have to have surgry so he won't be able to make the trip. Hence, it'll be a much shorter trip for me instead of running all the way from Waccamaw.

I was planning on getting in early Friday, but not sure now. Just had another deal miss its closing date. Hoping it still will happen just not sure?????

I don't think an official time has been discused. I think Sadler was planning on leaveing for the fri. night anchorage around 3. We plan to sleep untile we wake up, then get ready. So we should be there around 11.
Probably hang out around the marina and aggravate Sadler and or Bob untile everyone arrives. Looking forward to 5/22/09. nicky
