Looks like you have made a ton of progress. One thing I wish I had done at the point you are at is change all the trim switches on the out drive before you get the engine in and it is no longer accessible
Wish I had done it then before engine in and aligned.

Paddy, thanks for the input! I actually have no trim position switches on my boat. I had the Gimble mount rebuilt and there is really no replacement switches to be found for this gerneration outdrive (Pre Alpha ). Additionally I have upgraded to an Alpha 1 trim pump and will bypass the reverse lock set up which I understand to be generally more problems than it is worth.

I have pre alpha outdrives on my 77 sundancer and there are trim switches on them and also a trim pump.

was trim switch on mine also. They change right around 76, yours may be the ones that have a sender lft and right on the pockets on the side of the gimble bracket. Mine does not have those pockets. It was located diffeently and i cant find anyone that has replacements.
Not all that worried about it. Still have a trim pump and being an outboard guy before this, I am fine with knowing it is all the way up or down by the pump whine. Large Bennett trim tabs on the boat so I dont see a need to trim outdrive in operation.

    Thanks

Boats under cover for the season. But before I covered I pulled everything I could work on in my shop. First project upgrade Dash as part of electrical upgrade.
Here is the dash with new Vinyl and guage package.
Working with NUWire Marine to rebuild the switch panel with backlit rocker switches

My project on the 77 SRV 240 Sundancer is almost complete (if there is such a thing) I pinstriped it and redid the graffics on the front Only have a little bit of red trimming to do (ran out 5 feet from the end). Then I will apply the wax to finish up on the hull.

Just a little tweaking and a bead of black sealant around the perimeter of the switch panel and she is ready to go back in.
Kudos to NewWireMarine.com for the fine job on the rocker switch panel. Great people, very helpful.

That time of year again. Covers off and ready to get this project in the water.
    Major activities:
    Align engine with outdrive
    Rewire.

Lots of little things!! Good to be back in the boat!

I just finished making a cover for my 77 srv 240 sundancer. I still have a couple things things left to do on the cover to protect the wear areas but have to wait for my sewing machine to get fixed, stripped a gear. I had help from Sailrite when laying it out, the rails coming around from the front that connects to the back was in the way. They made a good suggestion that worked out. I have to yet make little covers for the teak on the back side rails and the grab rails on the the front of the boat. The sun here in Las Vegas just kills your woodwork so I will cover it to protect it when its parked.

Hey guys quick update and question.
Engine is in and aligned with outdrive. Also mounted.
    Trim system is in.
Wiring is complete front to back.

Putting in new bulge pump and float.

Question. How thick is the hull under the engine? 1/2 screws ok to mount base with??

I k ow the one I took out was screwed down. Do t remember what size screw came out.

    Thanks!

    Help with new engine start.
Having no spark issues with my rebuilt engine install.
Cranking fine, great oil pressure. Fuel to carb.
    No spark!
Pertronics set up for both coil and distributor.
    Not getting any spark
    Any ideas?
    It is a mercruiser 233(351w)
Thought it might be shift interupter. No change when I disconnect that.
About to just go back to points.

I have been down this road too - in fact having sim problem now. I think the pertronix ignition is better than points. Maybe first pull a plug and crank it with the pulled plug connected and grounded to the block, see if you get a spark in the gap. If no, try pulling the lead from coil to distributor and try to get a spark from that when cranking and it grounding to block, for both of these you need good ground with bare clean metal, no paint. If no spark, check the coil resistance. Plenty of resources on the web showing this , but when unwired you should get a reading of .3 or higher on primary ( + and - terminals on coils ) and something like 10000+ in secondary ( one of the + - terminals and lead to disto) If the primary is 0.0 the coil needs replacement. Sim if the secondary is off.

You could also use a timing light to see if you are getting spark too at the plugs if you have one. But it is nice to actually see the spark.

Also you can check your voltage to the ignition. Connect your multimeter to the coil and see if you are getting enough voltage from the battery. Connect positive lead on coil and to a good ground, key on should be 12volfs. Try cranking and should have at least 8-9 volts ( I think) if not enough voltage try checking connections.

    And
What pertronix kit do you have? 1.5 ohm coil with resistance wire, or 3 ohm with resistance wire removed?

Any chance there is a mix up here, or resistance wire needs to be removed?

For what it is worth, I just have been having similar problems, and found my coil was shorted out. It seems like I need a new coil every year.
