100hr service?

If I am not mistaken Mrs. Robinson tried this particular approach…I don’t believe the outcome ended favorably for him.

But then again, I’m just a trouble maker around here…

I do take offense to the “grown men” comment.

I have only been on this board for a short time but I do see there is a history here. Nevertheless, I don't see a good reason for this back and forth nonsense between grown men. This crap would definitely not go on if you were face to face. Instead of hiding behind emails why don't you meet and try it for real? My guess is the insults would stop very quickly. It's easy to be brave and insult someone when you are sitting in your living room with a glass of wine. Do either of you have the balls to carry it on in person? If so, then do it. Otherwise grow up.

Like it or not, the "diesel elite" are right. You may not like what they are telling you, but the information isn't wrong. You want to know how to take care of your boat the cheapest possible way? listen to them. Not only will you enjoy your boat more, in the end you'll keep more of that green stuff in your pocket too. Boating is expensive no matter what size boat you have or where you live. If you don't like the cost of boating, take up something cheaper. I don't play golf because I can't justify $9k for a bunch of sticks to walk around hitting a ball with, nor the $150 green fees or whatever you call it. To each his own.

I just took my GF's watch in to have it serviced. $735. Holy smack a ball with a stick. Why was it so expensive? because we waited to freakin' long to change the oil in the damn thing and now we have to replace some parts.

If you are that upset at what goes on at CSR or this particular thread, you always have the option of going somewhere else. No one is forcing you to stay here or read posts that you find offensive.

That will teach you not to buy her a Rolex!! How's pigdog?

Pigdog... now you want to know expensive? Own a dog in NYC. It costs like $1000 to get her serviced. We were out boating last weekend and she stepped on a sharp shell and sliced her paw open and she bled like a stuck pig. At least I have a purple bandage to show for it. Now that I think about it, this week was really expensive.

I happen to have a great marina that will do an impeller for $75!

Are you sure about that? Do you know where your impellers are located? It took the mechanic at my marinia over 2 hours lying on top of my engine with his head down in the bilge to remove 1 impeller. I was there and witnessed it. He spent another 2 hours installing it.

Hell if the yard does any work, we get billed for shop supplies, paper towels, environmental fees and band aids.....You are lucky !

+1 Vince, maybe he was talking about the impeller on the generator . I don't know a mechanic in the world that would do my impellers for 75 dollars. It took our mechanic more than 2 hours to do mine, and boy did he have a job. On a day that was 90 degrees with 90 percent humidity.

You are all welcome to join the "Snobby Ass Boat Club" since you just seem to have all this money sloshing around to do boat maintenance.

Actually I would like to hijack your new name for my next boat. I think the “Bitch’n Boat” would make a cool name!

what, he hasn't replace the exhaust system yet? that bill is going to be much larger than an oil change.

I'm confused as to why exhaust risers have to be replaced on boats. Coming from lots of car work, I have never had to replace headers on a car without doing it to upgrade.

So what's the story with risers?

And anyone on here going to answer my question about what IAC means on boat engines ... or are you little girls going to keep your strawberry shortcake panties in a wad?

Cars don't have salt water for cooling flowing through a cast iron or aluminum header/riser... the things corrode... and fail.. and if you wait till they leak, you'll get water in the pistons which yields a very bad thing typically bending connecting rods and crankshafts.

So on a freshwater only boat what is the risk with them?

Your cars tailpipe does not exhaust under water does it? Here is the story on risers: http://www.yachtsurvey.com/exhaust_risers.htm

Cool, just found that link too and reading it. With the engine running I don't see that there should ever be water coming back up into the exhaust (and as four winns says, that would be extremely bad, i've seen the insides of a water seized car engine from a flood, ouch!). I guess as it sits, humidity easily goes back up into the exhaust though, so that makes sense.

So on a freshwater only boat, how often should those be replaced?
