I received some information on this lift (XL-500 attached) and would like to get some feedback from anyone who has one installed. Durability, usability, etc. The marketing information all sounds great, but I have not been able to find any user references. Having all the hydraulic gear out of the...
I assume these are "native" DC with the AC power coming through an inverter "brick" or similar? And that they look for AC first if both are available. Are these assumptions correct?
So a question is this. If away from shore power, not running genset and the refrigeration running on AC from an...
We hope to soon join this owners group. Have a purchase agreement and the survey is on Wednesday. Looking for specific issues to perhaps focus the surveyors on known issues on the 52 DBs.
So far, my research has turned up the QSM 11 exhaust leak issue and Cummins will be addressing this (no...
Been a while since I posted here but want to give another shout out of thanks to Frank W. He was kind enough to respond to someone who "left the fold" and went over to the dark side and now owns a trawler style boat.
Short story...we are on the Great Loop and needed some repairs that...
I was disappointed to see they have discontinued handling the small repair size bottles of custom matched gel coat. Has any one found a new source for small quantities?
I have been on this forum for over five years and I have learned so much! I just want to say thank you to all who have helped with questions and concerns over the years.
The sale of Sum Escape will be completed next week (just a couple minor repairs requested by Buyer to close the deal) and...
Our boat is under contract to sell (just subject to sea trial and survey at this poiint) and the admiral and I are on a search for a Great Loop boat. If anyone local can help me out with any knowledge of this listing we would be most appreciative. Thanks...

Livonia, Mich., October 23, 2013 – The Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) applauds the decision of Michigan’s leadership to pass Sales Tax on the Difference (STOD)...
I have posted on this subject a couple times before. My only intent is to raise awareness. Here is a link to a recent Boat US article on the subject. Short, but some very good tips and suggestions for all (especially those in fresh water)...
A friend is looking at this boat and asked if I would post this question. What are the things good, bad and ugly to look for on this particular model? It has only been used a couple weeks per summer, otherwise was in a pole barn out of the weather. Thanks...
My understanding is duckbills are a good place to start when having pump run on and the bowl holds water fine. I'd like to order the 4 valves per head unit I will need. Are they the 1-1/2 or 2" valves? Owners manuals are in storage with the boat......thanks.
Check out the channel to Portage Lake in the picture embedded in the article. I know it was shallow as we entered twice last summer but wow....it is really low now. Here's hoping for lots of snow this winter!

Master A/C unit discharges much less water than cockpit or salon A/C units. This is the unit furthest from pump. Water flow is great from other units. This A/C unit cycles on and off (which I think is from the lower water flow) and thus takes a long time to cool down the master statemroom...
Looking for some comparisons from others to help me determine if I should add prop tuning to my winter maintenance list.
Here are some specs from my boat. I'd really be interested in other 44 DA results. Maximum sustained cruise per Cummins manual is 2400 RPM. Does anyone know what the load...
Been having issues with KVH to DirectTV. KVH guy came out, ran diagnostics, billed me and says it is functioning correctly. But it again didn't work when I got to the boat. To eliminate both parties "pointing at the other guy" I will be installing a new DirectTV box. Does anyone know the correct...
Called harbor, current clearance is 13'6". My waterline to top of radar is just under 13'. The question I have right now for someone with local knowledge is: Is it always calm in the harbor or must one calculate in the potential for waves/surge into the harbor? The breakwater appears to...
OK who has their launch date set with the marina? Two boats in their slips at North Shore Marina on Wed this week. Mine and another friend's will be added to that number on Friday Mar 30. 7 days sure sounds a lot better than 7 months!!! Weather don't fail me now!!
I tried to send a PM but your mailbox if full SBW1....
So I had my four year old lead acid wet cell batteries load tested and they still exceed spec. But I am a little nervous trying for a fifth season. I do keep them watered and they are on a float charge year around which supposedly helps...
Some local knowledge needed. Will be in the area this weekend. Is this annual event a "must see"? Only there for a long weekend so want to be sure it is worth our time. Thanks for the input.
I know there have been many of these exhaust flappers lost through searching this site. Has anyone been able to source a replacement exhaust flapper recently? My SR dealer says OEM changed design and flapper only is not available....need to buy entire exhaust assembly at $150 ish. I am hoping...
