We ran the OD's onto a sandbar at night time. Tried to get off with out sucking sand into the engines but no luck. So we powered off the sandbar. High temp alarms came on - shut off the engines immediately. Waited a while, turned back on and finished powering off and limped home.
So, the blocks...
My handset (uniden) wasnt transmitting. So I bought a garmin GHS II. its a plug into my dashboard area. The connection looked identical but turns out a VERY close look - the Uniden I did have was a different number and configuration of pins. I cant find the 10 pin configuartion. the garmin is a...
Hose clamp let go on the Port engine's raw water hose. Got it fixed and with water is all pumped out. Concerned salt water got to the bottom of the oil pan. Any suggestions on what to do to reduce future errosion?
I am getting a nuisance alarm for "bad fuel level sensor". I dont really want to replace this thing because the analog gauge for fuel works fine. I also cant seem to shut off this alarm and its annoying as hell. Any idea how to shut the alarm off? I've already tried going to the calibration...
Had the boat at anchor against some rough side-surf last summer. The force on the windlass bracket was side-ways and pulled a holding-screw right out of the hull.
I am unsure of how best to repair this. Thinking just putting a fresh screw in the same hole wont last. Does anyone have thoughts?
So, I clean, paint, replace anodes yearly but have been hearing that internal corrrosion is an issue also. That barnacle build up happens inside. Does anyone have opinion on weather splitting open the OD's is recommended and what type of cleaning you should do if you split them apart?
Thanks
Using the west marine extractor and got 4 qts the first use but now am only getting out 2 qts everytime. Its weird. The 1/4 inch tube is a 1/2 inch shorter than the dipstick.
Anybody have the same issue and know of a pump that works better?
Thanks
Been beating the boat up alot lately. Starting to hear funny noises with the slamming going over waves.
My question is, what signs come first with structural issues?
Took her out for a spin, trim worked fine and then just stopped. Pulled over, trailer switch lifted the OD fine. Trim switch wont put it back down.
Does this mean the fuse on the trim pump is fine (because trailer switch worked) and its the dashboard switch?
Also, is there anyway to put the OD...
Today, engines started fine / ran fine out of the inlet at 1000 RPM. Got to open water and throttled up to 3000; port engine just shut off. No smart craft alarm or anything. It wont start back up. Starter motor turns the engine over but then makes a noise and stops
mechanic pulled plugs. was a...
Back story:
Replaced my gen III cool fuel module completely this winter
Slight bottoming out yesterday - may have sucked up sediment into the engines

This may or may not be a reasonable question but here goes..
My Mercruiser 350 MAG engines have a spec for (I think) 90 octane gas. Is there any harm, or is it better for the engines, to put super unleaded in them? I have the opportunity to fill up with Super - 93 octane
thanks for your inputs!!!
Hi,
I accidentally spilled saltaway solution onto one of the alternators last fall when I was filling the block. It spilled right through and onto the windings. It looks as though this alternator was windings that are coated and covered but my battery voltage reading is low compared to the other...
Spent the day upside down (literally) in the engine compartment backing out bolts that were up against engine mounts, impossible to get to and every other thing.
Got the old (leaking) unit free, only to find I can not slide the fuel line out of the fuel pump portal. Its frozen on. I...
So, I had extensive work done on my boat last year. They removed and reinstalled both Merc Mag 350 MPI engines. For some reason they unplugged (seemingly) all the sensor wires on the stbd engine and (seemingly and properly) removed and reattached the wire harness on the port. The reason I think...
So I have a serious issue with the cool Fuel module leaking sea water at the inlet to the body. Its about to let go and I need to replace the module.
A full replacement is $1300 per engine but the body replacement only is $500 per engine only.
I have been talking to mercury folks and there is...
I have three car batts in the engine compartment. Two are high cranking amp to start each engine. One is a smaller battery; seemingly for all accessories. I've lost track of which spot they all go in because I remove them every year during the winter. Is there some way to identify which one...
