Hi,
I accidentally spilled saltaway solution onto one of the alternators last fall when I was filling the block. It spilled right through and onto the windings. It looks as though this alternator was windings that are coated and covered but my battery voltage reading is low compared to the other engine.
Anyway, how can I run a resistance test to check if the alternator is bad or not? Here are pictures.

Thanks!

I'd be surprised if the Salt Away is the problem. It's good to spray the engine with that stuff. Test for voltage directly at the alternator - the issue could be with connections somewhere along the line to the battery or at the battery, itself... or on the way to the gauge/at the gauge.

ok - I will check that. Probably a dumb question but, with the engines running?

Hey, better to ask, right! Yes. Don't overthink this one - it works just like it does in your car.

After checking at the alt (assuming it's good), then check directly at the battery. If that's good, stop. You're done. All is good.

If you have a voltmeter, check voltage at battery with engine off, and again with engine on.
12.5 off
13.5-14.5 running.
I had issue with voltage being too high and burned up a battery. Not your problem obviously.
