VHF Hand set replacement - problem connecting

My handset (uniden) wasnt transmitting. So I bought a garmin GHS II. its a plug into my dashboard area. The connection looked identical but turns out a VERY close look - the Uniden I did have was a different number and configuration of pins. I cant find the 10 pin configuartion. the garmin is a 12 pin.

Has anyone had experience replacing these and can guide me to the right replacement?

If you are just looking to replace the handset you'll need the model of the transmitter to look it up. If it's old you may need to go with used.

Usually on a label on the back of the main unit.

Is there any model number on either the handset or the face of the transmitter?
