Sold the Sea Ray - Joined the Pontoon Revolution!!

After I bought my 195 Sport I joined this great forum and I've learned a lot. My 195 was the first boat I've owned in over 20 years, and it was great to be back on the water. As I suspected, I love it just as much now as I did back then. After almost two seasons of loving my 2008 Sea Ray 195...

My favorite time of the year!

The end of March/beginning of April has always been my favorite time of the year. Within a couple of weeks there's March Madness, The Masters, My Birthday, and now thanks to becoming a boat owner again last year, it's splash time! My little 195 Sport isn't as big as many the other boats here on...

    Atlanta Boat Show recommentations?

My friend, fellow Sea Ray owner and slip neighbor have decided to do a boy's trip and head to the Atlanta show in a couple of weeks. I've read Sea Ray is scheduled to have the "world premiere" of their new SLX-W model there. I'm guessing Sea Ray might have some special, perhaps private...

    How's the Cleveland Boat Show?

Anybody been to the Mid-America Boat Show in Cleveland? It looks like I'll be in CLE during that time, so I could easily make time for it if it's a good one!

Thanks for being one of "us"

As I was reading some of the threads this morning about encounters with rude, unsafe, or just plain ignorant boaters, it got me to thinking....... I think it's safe to say that those of us that regularly visit this (and other) boating forums have a greater quest for knowledge about boating than...

    Engine warm up time??

My friend and slip neighbor both own similar sized SeaRay Bowriders (~20'). Mine's an 2008 Merc with a 5.0L V8 (carb) and his is a 2015 Merc 4.3L V6 (fuel-injected). When I get ready to go, I start my engine and let it warm up for a couple of minutes before backing out of the slip, then stay...

Anybody here that regularly boats on Lake Anna?

Just curious if we have anybody here who keeps their boat or trailers it to Lake Anna on a regular basis? I'm slipped at Lake Anna Yacht Club (by the 208 bridge).

Prince William Marina to National Harbor and Beyond

We dropped off my buddy's 19 SPX for it's 20 hour service at PWM yesterday and are going to pick it up on Saturday morning. Before we take it back to Lake Anna, we thought about maybe launching at PWM and going to National Harbor and perhaps beyond towards the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials...

Proud to own a Sea Ray!

Took this picture yesterday. There's nothing better than an afternoon on the lake on a Sea Ray!

    The perils of tubing

One of my closest friends bought a new 19 SPX last month and yesterday was the first day he was taking the family out tubing. They headed to the lake first thing in the morning, but I had things to do in the morning, and agreed to meet them at our slips at 2pm. I got there early and was...

Any tricks for getting the last bit of water out of the bilge?

My boat has two coolers under the aft bench seat, they drain into the bilge. It never is enough water to activate the bilge pump via the float, or even pump it out when I turn on the pump manually. It's probably only a few quarts of water, but it bothers me to know my bilge isn't perfectly dry...

    Oil Pressure too high?

While out on the laketoday, I thought the oil pressure gauge was showing high readings. It was at about 40 at idle/no wake speed, which is pretty normal, but when I got up on plane and was cruising at around 3000-3500 RPM the gauge jumped up to around 65-70. That seemed higher than it normally...

Onboard Life Jacket Storage - What is considered "readily accessible"??

Last weekend, I had the local USCG Auxiliary out to my boat for the annual Vessel Safety Check. As the inspector was checking things out, she complimented me that the life jackets were "readily accessible" as the USCG requires. She mentioned that too many times she sees them in a zippered up...

Put a name on my boat!!

I know some people say it's tacky to put a name on a small boat, but it's my boat, I wanted to name it, so I did!!! Yesterday I did the boat naming ceremony and applied the new name! I like it!!

Below freezing for a few hours. Should I worry?

My boat is on a lift in my covered slip. Weather forecast is for below freezing temps (as low as upper 20's) for 4-5 hours early tomorrow morning and then again Saturday morning. I've already de-winterized and used the boat a couple of times so there's obviously some water in it. Should I...

    Finally........in the water!!

Although I've been lurking (a lot) and posting (occasionally) for the last couple of months, I finally took delivery of my new to me 2008 195 Sport. I know that for some of you with larger Sea Ray's this isn't much more than a dinghy, but I'm excited to own my first boat in nearly 20 years. It...

How to find WOT RPM for my boat?

How do I find out what the recommended WOT RPM number is for my boat? I've got a 2008 195 Sport w/ 5.0 TKS and Alpha 1. NEVERMIND - I found it. Just needed a second cup of coffee.

Ownership Transfer - No response from Sea Ray

I went to Sea Ray's web site a month or so ago and completed the ownership transfer form. I would have expected at least a confirmation email from Sea Ray or something via snail mail, but I never heard a word. Is that typical?

Any hints/tips for new Lake Anna Boater?

I've purchased a 2008 195 Sport that I'll be keeping at Lake Anna Yacht Club. Most of the time it will just be me and the Admiral cruising around looking to enjoy the sun and water, with stops for eating and a cocktail. Also looking for great places to anchor/beach and just relax. Thanks in...
