Looking to purchase an ECM scan reader for the boat. How many model are available? Are they engine specific? Different harness available? Is their a publised table with the codes and what it refers to?
Any advise would be helpful..

Had the same problem on my 240DA.. The in and out hose in the heater was clogged to the point of no return... Tried to remove the hoses from the heater and ended up breaking the darn thing. So, living in S FLorida, I just bypassed the hoses and problemed solve for now.
Next step a new heater.
Its not that simple. Most likely the hose has a few tie raps that hold the hose in place.. I have a 240DA and the setup maybe similar.. I have a storage area under the shifter that also serves as an access point that needs to be remove to in order to access the hose and any cable that run to...
Last weekend I took my 8.5 Zodiac w/ woodfloor & 5hp 2 stroke Merc out on the bay and the thing was plowingggg with less than 380lbs..

I failed to mentioned that the part # on the belt currently installed has worn off since (this would have been the easiest way to get the correct part).
I did call mercs 800 number provided engine serial# and came back with the part I ordered/received. They did...

Thanks, I will try once again, but the new belt is almost 6 inches too short, even with the tensioner thats above power steering pump all the way down(totaly loose).
Did you also have to shift any device such as the alternator, P/S pump, water pump?? I would think that the belt...

I ordered the serpentine belt as detailed in the Mercury part express web site using engine serial number as reference and the belt received matches the part number (57-861757) but is +/-6 inch short compared to the exisiting part.
Other than the tensioner, is their another part...
Time to change them..
I just replaced mine. Do-it yourself project. On the outside they look great, but once removed, lots of rust crumbs and a very small leak had developed to the block..
Needless to say, this is the number cause of engine failure.
