I've been very very bad this week and signed a contract on a Hatteras Motoryacht . Sorry to say I need to get rid of my 2004 48DB. For you fellow owners, what do you think is a strong value is for my Sea Ray. Its always been kept on a lift, has all the "right" options, updated electronics...

    Dinghy weight question

I have a Boston Whaler 110 sport on the hydraulic lift. I think its in the 650 lb range. Worked fine for 3 1/2 years and I have been in some nasty seas.

I have a 2004 and replaced them about 3 years ago. That hose is expensive but you certainly don't want it to let loose while at sea.. I cant remember what I paid but maybe in the neighborhood of a 1k.

I had mine tinted about 4 years ago. Its in the sun all the time and it does help. As far as behind the TV-I did not remove the cabinet so it wasn't tinted there.. You can't tell from the outside that it wasn't done as that area is already dark. Yea maybe its ideal to remove it but that's...

Tampa Bay area and 'burbs. Would you move there?

I have been here for 28 years from the Baltimore/Washington area. Family still up there so I return once a year but don't want to stay more than a few days. Schools in general are not as good as in the Northeast. Check the areas closely, there are some good public areas but we choose...

    Weekend destinations from St. Pete

We are doing rib fest at the Vinoy this weekend, one of our favorite places unless there's an east wind. Great food and bands. Only 100 miles to captiva(tween waters) and about 120 miles to Ft Myers(city marina is nice as well as Centenial).. A bit farther maybe 150 miles Naples is a nice...

    Sedan Bridge 40 vs. 48

I have owned both. Spend the extra 150-200k and get the 480db. There is a recent thread on this subject. The 400 is a decent boat but no comparison to the 480. My likes -hard top, thruster, 3rd stateroom, bridge a/c, dinghy lift, performance and handling and stud engines.

Request for thoughts/expereince and insight to the 480 db

I had an 01 400DB and upgraded to the 04 480DB with QSM11's. Very few problems with the cummins. I took it to Baltimore from Clearwater 2 years ago and this year to the central and southern Bahamas. I cruise at 30.5mph at 45 gph. No comparison to the 400 db. Much larger, hardtop, bridge...

    Cruise to Belize

Have you tried central and southern Bahamas(Exumas, Eleuthra,Paradise Island) That's quite ambitious to go to Central America in a 40 ft boat. I did the Bahamas(central and southern) in June this year in a 48DB and its just beautiful. One leg of the trip was 225miles of open water(Nassau to...

Tampa Bay to Central and Southern Bahamas in June

I am planning a trip to the Bahamas leaving in mid June. If anyone is interested in this adventure post or PM me. The Sea Ray club is leaving on June 14 (Naples, Keys, Bimini, Lucaya then home. I would probably leave the group in Bimini and head to Chubb, Spanish Wells, Eleuthra(Harbor...

St Pete Grand Prix Mar 22/24

I was also there, stayed at the Vinoy and luckily had a west wind and was quite comfy. I can't believe we missed those storms that seemed to hit everywhere except St. Pete.

    Customs in the Abacos, Bahamas

I agree the north end of the Grand Lucuyan Waterway is very skinny. If you catch it at high tide you'll be fine. I draw 3'9" and had no problem although there was not much room between the props and the botttom, just take it easy. You can also cross the bank just north of West End. Its a bit...

    Customs in the Abacos, Bahamas

I have done the trip both ways from the Tampa Bay area and I prefer the lake route. Its much shorter and burn way less fuel. The lake does get a bit low in May so check the navigational depths closely. The nearest check in point is West End Grand Bahama about 80 miles from Stuart. Is Walkers...
