I'm in the process of buying a tender for my 480 DB. She does not have the hydraulic platform. I'm planning on going with the Trillogy system and I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a maximum weight. Is 650lbs too much for the boat to handle ? I could go lighter but the tenders I'm more interested in are weighing in at 600+ lbs. Any of you 480 DB owners have any advise ? it would be much appreciated. Thanks

We just put on a Ste Croix davit system for a 10 ft tender. I think the tender weight is around the 250 lb mark. The Ste. Croix system hangs out over the rear of the platform so the weight on the actual platform must be greater. We have a 44 DA with no hydraulic platform. But I do know that the davit is reinforced under the platform on the stringers.

I have a Boston Whaler 110 sport on the hydraulic lift. I think its in the 650 lb range. Worked fine for 3 1/2 years and I have been in some nasty seas.

That seems like a lot of weight for a dinghy. Even with my 9.9 four stroke mounted on it my dinghy is less than 275lbs.

Have you tried posting this in 480DB thread? My dinghy is about 850lbs and the boat handles it fine, but I have the lightest lift (SeaLift cradle version). Lady TAZ (our friend with 480DB) has similar dinghy (different brand, but in the same weight category) and I don't think his boat notices the dinghy, as his performance is not affected. As I recall, majority of lifts are rated for 900lbs. But, you need to verify with your lift manufacturer.

If your question is whether 650 lbs is too much for the standard platform with a Trillogy lift, I can't answer as I'm not familiar with it. If it is whether the boat itself knows there is 650 lbs on the transom from a performance standpoint, mine does not. No discernible difference in speed, fuel burn, load, etc. whether there is a 650lb tender, 800 lb jet ski or nothing on the platform.
