    No longer Sea Ray owner

But I'd still like to hang around! It was a really hard decision to sell my boat, but at least I sold it to my brother so it's still in the family. I got a Scout Dorado 222 for it's fishing capability and it's better suited for trips to the coast. Can I still stick around?

    boat storage

I've kept my boat in dry storage for 10 years. I am thinking about bringing it home. My question is this: if I've got a good cover, why should I be concerned? Is it really that much of a difference?

    stern light problem

Does anyone have any problems with a perko stern light? I've spent HOURS trying to figure out why the bulb won't stay tight enough to stay lit while underway. I've replaced the light, I've tried different bulbs. I don't think it's the light receptacle because if I hold the bulb with my hand...

240 DA owners, do you overnight?

We boat and camp. But we don't camp as much as we'd like because we can only tow the boat or the trailer, not both. So my question is: how many of you overnight on your 240 Sundancer? Is it big enough for a family of four? Or am I really just going to end up having a closed bow for storage...

    Bryant Boats

I got a Bryant Boats promotional DVD in the mail yesterday. Wow. Not only do the boats seem high quality, but what a great marketing tool. Beats the crap out of a traditional brochure. Anyone have any experience with Bryant? Don't get me wrong, I love my Sea Ray, but I was very impressed...

    Cover for 185

I have an almost new 'exact fit' boat cover for my 1998 185. This cover will fit 1998-2000 185s. I am selling it because I ordered a replacement tonneau cover for my bow. This is the description from Overtons: Exact Fit HurricaneSharkskin Boat Cover Manufacturer: SEA RAY Model: 185 BR...

    gelcoat repair

Time to start repairing dings and scratches. I've fixed some with mixed results. Does anyone have a link to a good step by step process? And what kind of product do you think is best? I've got a little jar of the Sea Ray gelcoat repair paste which is what I'm going to use barring any better...

    bow block off

Any ideas on how I might add some kind of bow block off? It would really lengthen my season if we could get out of the wind. I'm pretty handy, but I don't want anything to look half-a$$. Has anyone ever done this? I was thinking a piece of canvas snapped to the bottom of the windsheild and a...

    anchor line

I unspooled my anchor line all the way this weekend. normally I only use the first 20-30 feet, but I'm reconfiguring. Anyway, it's been on the spool for 9 years, and it's stiff as a board. It makes it very hard to coil. Any tricks to what I can do with it? I thought about throwing it in the...

    anchor issues

I do not have an anchor locker which is really starting to bother me. Right now I keep my anchor in a plastic crate next to the engine, so every time we anchor, I have to fight my way back through the kids, move stuff off the engine cover/sunpad, carry the anchor and rode back up, etc etc...

    water in cushions

There may be no secret to this but thought I'd ask anyway... I've got a pretty good bit of water in my cushions from a rain storm. I can tell because they're very heavy, and they are leaking. :smt013 So I've got them propped up to hopefully drain, but it's August in SC, which means drying...

    Radio set up

What kind of VHF set up do you recommend for my boat... 90% inland lakes, 10% coastal? I am interested mainly in monitoring weather. When I took my boat to the coast last week, I had the wrong codes entered in my weather radio, so I couldn't get good weather updates. And my cell wasn't...

    propeller damage

Any opinions on whether or not to buy a new prop, or have the old one re-machined? Assuming my hub is still good?

    storage dilemma

I've been keeping my boat at the same marina dry storage for years. Lately thing are getting broken, e.g. the bow light two times. Now I'm noticing crescent shaped scratches in my gel coat . they are about 10" to 12" long and curved up, like a smiley face. Something, the forklift, the...

I don't hate big boat guys

I would like to apologize for turning the deck hands thread into a pissing match. Let's move on!

I am ready for some harsh responses, but here goes....

I am renting a place in a few weeks that has a dock on a tidal creek. In past years I've seen people who tie up and just let their boat sit on the pluff mud at low tide. I know some of you guys would never think of doing that, but could it present a problem -- other than a muddy boat?

Never ending search for the next boat

When I move up, hopefully next year, I'm pretty much set on the 230ish. My question is this: are the 1999-2003 220, 230 and 240 pretty much the same size? And would they be a substantial step up from my 185? I don't want to turn around in 3 years and decide I should have gone with a 260. Ideas?

    Edisto to Beaufort

Has anyone ever made this trip? A friend told me last week that it was a great trip. However, I've got a small gas tank, and not much protection from the weather. Any thoughts? Mike

    fuel gauge

Big surprise here, my fuel gauge is busted. I've been reading about a fuel sensor that works better than a guage? Can someone let me know what this is all about?
