I unspooled my anchor line all the way this weekend. normally I only use the first 20-30 feet, but I'm reconfiguring. Anyway, it's been on the spool for 9 years, and it's stiff as a board. It makes it very hard to coil. Any tricks to what I can do with it? I thought about throwing it in the washing machine with fabric softener? But I don't want to weaken it.

Fabric softener is a good idea, but I wouldn't 'throw it in the washing machine'. Ropes tend to get tangled around the agitator and it can be a mess. Just soak them in a bucket.

I just dropped the whole thing (except for the last few feet obviously ) into the lake for an hour and it was fine
