    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I have an 89 Sundancer. I ran the windless wiring along the port side. There is actually a recess behind the behind the port hanging locker, behind the dinette cabinets, behind the forward berth port side fascia leading to the anchor locker. This is the way Sea Ray did it according to...

93 dancer vacum loss in the head

If the motor doesn't work, there is a fuse for the motor. The fuse may be under the dash, possibly another by the motor. Good to check. Sometimes the pump motor stops on a dead spot. A sharp wack gets it going. Use the wrong kind of toilet paper and fibers can build up and jam the bellows...

    replace fridge

A refrigerator box will greatly increase capacity. Think of it as a refrigerator with a remotely mounted compressor. There is a lot of unused space behind and above the fridge in the 30 Sundancer. A box can be made to fit the space available. It is essentially foam panels cut to fit. The...

    300 DA seating layout

I use pontoon style corner couch seats in place of the useless transom seat. The 45 inch Wise Model # 17097460 | Mfg # 8WD131-1012 works well. put 2 together to make an L or put them facing. The storage underneath holds my 3 hp outboard. Can also set a 45" next to a 36" in...

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

14 ½ x R19 black diamond aluminum I find to be best on my 89 300 outdrives. I tried different props, different cup with same diameter and pitch but the performance was terrible. The prop felt like it grabbed the water aggressively starting out but cruise performance suffered. If you want...

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I have a Sundancer with arch. It is really not much of a problem to scamper up the side decks. Trick is to shuffle step - leg forward, then slide the trailing leg up to the leading but not to step ahead of it. Only takes a couple steps and you can hold onto the bimini tube above the...

    Official 1980's Weekender/Sundancer 300 thread

I have a Portabote on the swim platform. The beam is less than an inflatable so it doesn't obstruct the view when sitting in the cockpit. I really like that. The 8' model fits the beam. I replaced the quick release components with bolts. It is secured with dinghy davit parts.

    Helm Headroom - 88 300DA

I raised the canvas top so I can stand up steer. Nice on a hot day to get wind in your face and better visibility especially at night. I also extended the canvas forward a bit so you are in the shade when standing. Also to put the bow forward so you don't hit it with your head. It wasn't a...

Stanchion access on 89 Sundancer 300

How do I get access to the stanchion that is outboard of the galley on an 89 Sundancer. I look in the rolling door cabinet above the stove but it is all upholstered. I can't see or feel the nuts. On the port side the screws and nuts protrude through the fabric but not on the starboard side...

Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1986-1989 sundancer 300da

You can replace it without taking the tank out. Trick is to remove the panel aft of the step. Then you can reach down. You can get the wires from inside the bilge. Not a bad job.

1989 Sea Ray Sundancer 220 Help

Have to wonder is there is a holding tank in a 220. Usually these have an oversize porta-pottie. It is part of the toilet base. It is possible you overfilled the water tank but usually that would come out the fill point or a vent. Step one is to trace the hoses and make sure all clamps are...

Don't forget to check the key switch. I've had them give trouble both from the wire terminals and internally. Have to keep clicking before starter will turn. Switch has a hole to drain but may be mounted with the hole facing up.

    Hole in the Water Club

Mine went too. What I want to know is if those other fridges will drop in the same cutout as the Norcold DE 215E that came with the boat. Have not heard anything about either of those brands.

late 80's 300DA SUNDANCER owners throttle cable question

I replaced throttle / shifter cables on my 89 30' Sundancer. It made a big difference. Buy the top of the line cables not the Merc ones. I don't recall the brand but they are red. Lubricating didn't help. Cables become stretched, grabby. Then the adjustment has too much play. The quality...

Re: Looking for the rubber/plastic spacer on the swim ladder 1988 300 SD Swim ladder spacer - Get a side curtain stand off. These are nylon like cubes curved to snap on to metal tubing to keep the window from touching the bimini frame and burning. They are about 1.5" cubes Drill a hole and...

The drive toggle switches fail after a while. Just pry the ring off the top of the shifter, lift out the switch, unplug wires and replace. 3 minute job. Unless you are replacing the shift cables, don't take it apart. Take the cover off and grease but don't disassemble. Too many adjustments...
