    Good use for the boat?

I am hoping to splash late this week. If my mechanic can do everything needed, then I will tie the boat up on a small, isolated dock in Cold Spring Harbor, here on the North Shore of Long Island. I will provision it full of flowers, a nice and hopfully classy meal, a bottle of moderately priced...

    Outdrive Removal

How important is it to remove the outdrives ('06 290DA) for the winter. I had them removed last year after the boat broke from the mooring and spent a night on the beach. All was well then and this season I hadn't hit anything. I'd love to not spend the money to do this but if you all feel that...

    Dashboard Switches

Seems that the entire bank of dashboard switches (including the hatch up/down switch) on the starboard side is shot. The boat is an '06 290DA. Do I need a new bank of switches and is there a supplier anyone can recommend as to where to purchase it? Thanks

    Long Island, Hurricane?

Are you guys/gals going to put your boats on land? I'm on a mooring in Huntington Bay, any thoughts?

    Scratch on outdrive

I got a little aggressive scrapping barnicles off my outdrive (Bravo 3) and put a scratch in one deep enough to see the silver color of the drive. Do I need to address this now or can I wait unitl the end of the season? If so, can I do anything for it while the boat is in the water?

    Documented Boat?

On documented boats does anyone know if the name of the boat needs to be visible on the boat? Even as I was filling out the Coast Guard Document paperwork I was wondering if naming the boat after my girl friend was a good idea... no, it wasn't!

    Complications!

I really need the collective wisdom you guys afford here, I'll try to be suscinct. While I have had my first year as a boater under my belt and have learned much (alot if that wisdom having come from you all), I have a situation. My boat is a '06 290 with 150 hours on it. I treat it with great...

    Insurance Depreciation?

I am working out the details of my insurance settlement with BoatUS. They have been very fair, however, my agent said that were my boat one year older (it's a 2006) then the settlement would have been subject to 'depreciation (note, this is for repairs)! I don't know how much money they would...

    Salvage Operation... Really?

This really surprised me. Some of you may remember a few weeks ago my 290DA broke loose from my mooring and wound up on a beach. My insurance company, BoatUS, is doing all the right thing. Although the boat looked to me to be in fairly good shape, they are cutting a check for almost $6800 to my...

    Fiberglass Repair Cost

Is $125 an hour for professional fiberglass repair reasonable (this is in Long Island, NY)?

    No power to TV

On my '06 290DA, I am getting no power to the cabin TV. I pulled the power plug from the back of the TV and tested it for power... none. The cord goes into a hole behind a cabin, how do I follow that, do I need to pretty much dismantle the interior? Oh, the DVD player is getting power, I'll...

    Is this bad?

Those those of you who have been following my bouy mishap, here is a snap (if I attached it correctly) of my beauty languishing on the rocks!

Bad end to a bad 1st Season

Any one who has followed some of my threads will know that I have had kind of a tough first season with my first boat ('06 290DA), well, my season ended today with a call from my local police asking me if that Sea Ray sitting on the rocks was mine? It was! I was moored. The boat was about 300...

    Huntington Light House Concert (LI)

It seems that here in Huntington Bay (Long Island, NY) there is to be a concert at the Light House, boats only! It was to be held today (Sat) but moved to Sunday from 11AM to 6PM. Any of you guys/gals going. I'll be there ('06 290DA, blue hull)) and would love to actually meet some of you all! Tom

    FAULT: Fuel Line

My Smart Guage (port side tach) is reading: Fault, fuel line. What does that mean? I have '06 Bravo3, 4.3 motors.

    Long Island big winds Friday

Hey you Long Island guys. It seems that at this point we are not going to be hit by the hurricane but on Friday winds will gust upwards of 50 mph. Will you all, especially any of you who are mooring, remove your canvas that day or do anything else preemptive?

    carpet backing

Another member suggested doing this to recondition our carpet backing, I forgot who and I'd like to give credit because it works. The problem, as any of you all with a boat that is about three years old, is that the black backing disintigrates. tI took me hours to clean up all the tiny black...

    Boat won't plane

All seemed to be well, then my last outing I cannot get on plane. Boat is an '06 290DA, 4.3's with around 140 hours. The trim tabs are up, boat is trimmed down (all is just normal), there is no odd load on the boat. The port side engine will only hit 3000 rpm, the starboard engine tops out at...

    Monoco Yacht Show

Oh boy... you may have to copy and paste this link but it will be worth it. This is a virtual tour of a number of yachts in Monoco, not deep tours but well worth twenty minutes of drool time! http://www.monacoyachtshow.com/visite_virtuelle_mys/tour_en.html

    Thermostat Issue

I replaced both my thermostats (Bravo 3's) because the engines were running cold (109 degrees). After about an hour of running, the port side engine is running cold again! Anyone have this kind of an issue before. Could this just be a bad thermostat (how often does that happen) or is a failing...
