Bill, Post a picture when you finish this project.
I will. But it’s going to fit a custom need as we have a cat that uses that spot as it’s scratch pad. So I plan to cut up a heavy duty sisal rug and glue it in that space. Just trying to find the right color.

My winter project. Taking the old archaic TV shelf/box down. TV will now be mounted directly on the wall with an articulating mount. Sea Ray painted inside that box black. So now I need to somehow figure out how to remove that paint off the ceiling. Magic erasers have shown some promise.

I will be interested to see how this comes out. I will be eventually removing that on my "new" 2000 400DB.

Wow. Keep us informed on how it turns out. I have a flat screen mounted on a swing out door on my 400. I use the cabinet for storage, which you never have enough of. What are you going to put on the floor? I am looking for a neat affordable idea instead of the carpet. Good luck.

I had the same thing before - a flat screen mounted to a door. It was fine, and we kept DVDs and such in the cabinet. But after the admiral bumped her head 1 too many times, she said it was time for the cabinet to go. I was OK with it as I think removing it will open the space up a lot more. I'll keep you posted on progress.

Regarding the carpet, it's staying. I have the original and it's in pretty good condition. I just had it peeled back yesterday (when I took the pic) because I had just finished winterizing and had the engine hatch open for more room.

Here is the prototype. My wife loves it as an accent. It has all the colors of the cabin in it, cherry, gold, cream and black. It’s just the cockpit flooring that we had left over. I am lukewarm on it.

I had the same problem where the carpet backing would stick. A quick fix that has been inplace for years.....I added a heavy 10 mill drop cloth, over the backing. Problem is solved!

Does anyone have a PDF of the 2000 400 DB owners manual? All I find on the SeaRay site is the supplement...

I do. Pm me your email address. FYI, it’s a generic manual for all sport yachts made between ‘97-‘03, I believe.

My first winterizing of the 400DB.

Water fill cap thread: 1.25" NPT. I built a PVC funnel for antifreeze into the water tank. I also built a hose adapter so I don't have to hold the hose to fill the water next season.

Learned to build a duct tape damn around my upside down oil filters. Fold over about 2/3 width duct tape and apply around the rim of the filter housing. Loosen the filter slowly and allow to drain. If you go to quickly, the duct tape damn gives you some leeway.

More to come...

Had our new to us 98 digitized today for SeaDek on the swim platform, cockpit, and flybridge. Anyone have any pro, cons, pictures, or watch out for's that they could share?

At the dock, I always use the dock water hookup and try to keep the water tank close to empty. No reason to lug around lots of weight for no reason. But when I'm preparing for a multi-day trip on the hook, I need to fill the water tank. It took me 3 years to figure out that I can easily fill my water tank using the hose in my stern locker, which is like 3 feet away. Plus I have a filter on my dock water hookup, so I'm actually filling the tank with filtered water. Now why didn't I think of that earlier!

With gas engines and all chain rode, I like to keep my water tank full. Otherwise the boat sits bow down and I have some unusual water lines to clean as well as the showers not draining well. This boat was clearly designed with heavy motors in mind.

I never really understood the desire to have an all-chain rode. I can see it if you're anchoring in an area with coral and you're worried about rope chaffing, but for typical sand/mud applications, I think it's overkill. I have 40' of chain and think that's plenty. I've been anchored with a raft of 5 boats with 35Kt winds and my anchor was the one doing all the work. It didn't budge. Anyway, not my intention to start a debate, just my $0.02.
