Tax refunds

ARE YOU KIDDING!? the socialist democrats of today do NOT consider middle class $200K!!!! they consider a family making $150K per year "wealthy." that's why if you come in higher than this, you dont get as large a block of government cheese. this is precisely the problem! and if barry or hillary get in, FUGGEDDABOUDIT! the whole tax bracket thing will be skewed DOWN and all those newly indoctrinated "RICH" people will get slammed. talk about redistributing wealth to lazy, shiffless and ne'er do wellers. and you know what? they're gonna have new car every three years and the phattest plasma tv in the living room of their 3 room apartment. and you'll be working til mid-may to pay for it each and every year.

"I noticed both the democratic contenders seem to not want to raise taxes on the middle class. . which seems (by them) to be $200-$250K."

Anyone who really believes this to be true is an Idiot. I think they are confused with treble damages.

Who's Barry? Is he related to Osama the senator?

Best regards,

My wife is a school teacher and you all need to get something straight. This is like the public schools... If students are doing poorly on tests, it's not because of the fact they didn't study, it's because the tests are too hard. Likewise, if someone is making more than $150K a year, then other people will have to suffer because there is only so much money to go around. It's like having a basket of fruit and some people taking more than they should and not leaving enough for others...

Damn... I gotta get off these drugs.

It might be a good experience for you to discuss this with someone who has alot of knowledge on the subject of the gov and how they tax. Perhaps you and Wesley Snipes could get together.

I don't get the Wesley Snipes part of it because I care even less about what the entertainers of our society think. They serve only to entertain. They are nothing more than clowns, and thus, their opinion means nothing to me. The whole Hollywood establishment can't slide off into the sea fast enough for me.

Tax refunds are money returned AFTER the goverment has taken the money, and held it for some period of time. The interest that it would have collected in my bank account - gone - poof. I could have used it to invest in something so that I have something down the road to feed my family with, hell, I could have drank it away... Bottom line is that I earned it, and someone took it away and used it when I should have been the one using it.

If ya'll think the stimulus refund is "risk free" for the government, you are dreaming. The stimulus is simply a tax reduction in 2008, provided to us ahead of time. The tax tables in next year's tax book will be adjusted to account for it when you fill in your taxes so that the amout of tax you pay is what you would have paid in 07 minus the $600. It really is a cut. Now... If you earn more than the AIG cap in 08 and you didn't in 07, then your rate will go up accordingly and you will end up paying the $600 back.

The ONLY way there can be deficit spending is if the government spends more than they take in. Reducing taxes does NOT create a deficit. The government intentionally spending more than it takes in, creates deficits. If we reduce taxes, we need to reduce spending to account for it. If there is a deficit after a tax cut, then our stupid government is to blame. If your pay was cut by 50% tomorrow, would YOU keep spending the same as you did yesterday? I wouldn't. To do so would be... uh... idiotic....:wow:

You will note that I stated my understanding of THEIR position without stating that I either agreed or disagreed with the statement.

Personally, I don't think any of the candidates (right or left) have a well thought out financial policy. Hillary strikes me as being "less than honest". Obama's positions seem less than 100% thought through. McCain. . .gives me the feeling he will continue the disastrous Republican "Cut taxes / Increase Spending" combination.

I actually think Obama is the most likely to bring down the federal deficit. . but he is most likely to do this by both increasing taxes and spending. Gah. Not quite as bad. . . but not really good.

Why can't we find a candidate who is willing to both reduce deficit AND reduce taxes???

Why is it the only balanced budgets I remember came under Bill Clinton?

Is there real way we can get a Democratic President with a Republican Congress again. Sigh.

Well the guy that sells hotdogs on my corner is getting a stimulus check even though he pays less than 1/10 in taxes than what he should. If I see him with a new cell phone after he gets the check, I'm going to knock it out of his hands and jump on it.

The Republicans were in charge in both the House and the Senate and they drug Bill kicking and screaming into it.

Until Bill found out that it worked, at which time he declared that HE did it...

I think you mangled your analogy. . .but I think I agree. I disagree with the need to get off drugs. I think I need a drink. (I am subject to random drug testing. . .so I can't go the drug route).

I don't subscribe to supply side economics. . and I do believe in a progressive tax code.
But I also seriously resent government handouts.

I wouldn't mind having a higher marginal tax rate if people didn't waste the money on handouts and pork barrel spending. Beyond building domestic bridges and blowing up the bridges of our enemies . . I see little purpose for any government spending.

Social security is a different ball of wax. I just wish that it has not been ROBBED BLIND for decades by a government more interested in votes than fiscal responsibility.

Don't care who gets the credit. Got the job done.

If it's an iPhone, send it off to Bill Kearny. I hear he's looking for one to develop applications for.

What other crap can we put in this thread to stir the pot a little... hmmm....

Cr0ck1? You out there bro? You know what a bilge is?

I want a bigger boat too.

If the gooberment will send me the money, I will buy a brand spankin' new 38DA. (can't go bigger. . . a 38' is probably too big for my dock!)

Part of the reason that we have so many "poor" (not really, compared to other countries...) people is that they get hit hard with taxes as soon as they start to make any real money. This prevents them from ever catching up or getting ahead, so they quit trying and just sit around waiting for the government to tax the hell out of Gary and send it to them.

I agree and not...

I do believe we have created a welfare state, whereas it is easier to sit back and let others hand you money rather than motivate yourself and become successful. I see it all of the time in beautiful Bridgeport CT, where my company is located. I can drive a mile from here to see men of working age just hanging out at 2 in the afternoon.

I do not believe that you get taxed to death as soon as you start making any real money. The problem is as soon as many people start making good money, they spend it and live outside their means more often than not.
