420 DA Thread

This past weekend I lost power to my Lofrans windlass. It seems I overloaded the windlass while pulling up a stuck anchor. After troubleshooting and researching, I popped the breaker. (This despite several posters leading me astray about bad solenoid contacts). The high amp windlass breaker is found in the engine room on the forward bulkhead mounted just below the large black breaker box NOT on it. In fact the breaker says "windlass" on it. Just push the little arm up and it "clicks" when it's reset.

Ok. So who's ready to sell me their boat so I can get on the water this season? ;)

Hi Guys
This is my first post to be gentle !!.
I would like to tap into the vast knowledge here as i am sure you will be able to answer my question.

I have a 1990 420 DA Sundancer.
I am trying to source spares for the Westerbeke generator (diesel)
(the seal for the exhaust to the inter cooler initially, but im sure there will be more as i go about commissioning it back to service)

Here is my issue i do not know the generator model number as it has been damaged on the ID plate.

I cant seem to attach a photo of the ID in this post.
But here is the info on the ID plate i can make out.
11 kw
120/240 Volts
92/46 Amps
60 Hertz
Engine Ser # 26906 0003
Generator Ser # 10558
HP 18.4
RPM 1800

Hopefully one of you guys or girls will be able to let me know the model number so i can go about ordering parts. As i have tried to search but as its a old boat finding the right info is a challenge.

Cheers
Sean

Does anyone have a performance/fuel consumption/range chart that I can get for a 420 Sundancer with 6cta Cummins engines?
Thanks, Larry

My 2 hatch rods are done. What have you guys done to repair/replace them with? Thanks

You may be able to either get replacements from Taylormade, or they may be able to point you in the right direction to find them.

I have a maintenance question on draining my ZF Vdrives. I can't get my hand all the way down to the drain plug (and it's too close to the bulkhead) so I sucked the oil out from the dipstick/fill hole. However I only got about a liter and a half out and the manual says capacity is 7 liters. Any trick to using an oil evacuater that I'm missing?

Guys ,
Check ur ac condensate pans ... My Salon ac drain clogged in the shower sump. The salon ac filled up and overflowed. Water filled a cavity I wasn't even aware existed under the aft closet . That overflowed into the floor storage area in the aft almost filling it to the top.... Took me a bit to figure out where the water had come from as I just filled the water tank .... None of these areas are checked regularly and they don't drain to a bilge pump... HOW FING STUPID !!!!!!!

It could have been a lot worse if I didn't catch it in time .. so now I check it weekly.

Any why the F would anyone have a drain below the water line of a sump box... how damn stupid are u .....

Rob

I had the forward AC drain clog at the 90 degree elbow going into the sump box this weekend. Fortunately I keep my beer stored in the master floor storage area.... So I am in there at least once a day. I noticed a bit of water and cleaned out the debris in the elbow and all is good......it's also a good idea to clean the air filters on the AC unit while your in there

anyone willing/able to take a picture and some dimensions of the back of their 420/44? new boat should be shipping next week and i'd like to get some graphics ordered ahead of time. just don't know what my limitations are.

p.s. would settle for someone in the lorton area that wouldn't mind me climbing aboard with a tape measure - will leave a few beers in the cockpit fridge while i'm there. ;)

thanks!

Here you go. The flag mount can be in slightly random positions but generally in that area. With the transom pic most graphic guys can overlay the image on the picture.
