I wouldn't tell anyone what to do, you have to make a decision that works for you.
I don't know to what lengths th OP went to protect his assets, he didn't give that infomation.
In my case, I asked the marina manager what his plan of action was concerning snow load on the dock structure. He didn't have one really. His idea was to spray water on the roof and melt the snow off. This was not acceptable to me so I took personal responsibility and did what I needed to do to protect myself. Nothing happened and people laugh at me for doing what I did. But it could have gone the other way just as easy.
I might not have shovled snow off the roof, but Made sure I had proper insurance coverage, as it seems like the OP did.
