Whats your Boats name and what does it mean to you

I never thought to search for this thread. It was fun to read through. My previous boats name was Orbis Gero. I proposed to my wife on its maiden voyage and Orbis Gero means ring bearer (loosely) in Latin. My current boats name is Flipper. I am a real estate investor, I "flip" houses in the Boston area.

"Sweetness". Double meaning...after my wife and one of the greatest football players ever. custom designed and in actual Chicago Bears colors.

Wendy Lee, That is the name of the Admiral, I thought it appropriate that we name our first boat after my wife since she has wanted a boat since we met.

"Our Honeymoon"

When we got married in July 2011, we were wondering what to do with our week vacation. The weather was great, so we loaded up our 1977 17' Doral deck boat and headed off to Lake Simcoe, to hit the Trent Severn waterway towards Peterborough. On day 1 (Monday) we made it up to Canal lake enroute to Fenelon Falls. Bringing it up on plane after a few hours of no wake and idling through the locks, Mary (Admiral) said "something smells like its burning". Sure enough the little 165 straight six was overheating something fierce. Brought it back to idle, it cooled and we putt putted into Fenelon falls. We ended up getting a room at the Fenelon Falls Inn and Curry House for the night. On Tuesday we putted over to the local marina, where the good staff there pulled us out to take a look. Turns out the head gasket went. So we cabbed it back to the truck/trailer and came and got the boat.

Dissapointed, we went home and pondered what to do. Our friends had a Bayliner Avanti 3450, so we hopped in with them for a few days.

Got back home on Thursday, and stuck the Doral out at the road with a for sale sign hung from the bow rail. On Friday it sold, even with the buyers knowing the issues.

The following week we got the Sea Ray 210MC, and we felt whole again. It was then that we decided any vacation savings would go towards boating and taking trips. Every weekend away on the boat is like being on "our honeymoon".

Present boat is "Life is but a Dream". My girlfriend's name is Merilie..... Last boat was "Jeanne's Dream" as my Ex always wanted a bathroom on board and finally got her wish.

While sitting around the tents in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War, the discussions inevitably turned to future plans when we got back to the States. A few of the other pilots owned boats and said that I was really missing out on a great family pastime. I decided that I would give it a shot and my buddies said that I had to come up with an appropriate name. Thus, "Desert Dream" was born. My Sea Ray is the third boat so named--prior boats were a Crownline 18BR and a Crownline 250CR. I almost changed names this time but, as hard as I tried, I couldn't think of a better logo. I'm glad that I stuck with it. Cheers! Phil

The new boat is named K-yachtic, because, well....my life with a wife and 5 daughters is pretty chaotic and all six of them have names that start with K. My wife takes exception to being included in that characterization but she knows it applies.

Ours is "Freshly Squeezed". Because it was a Lemon when we bought it. Names not on the boat yet. Hopefully it will change! ;-).

"Wave Dancer"

Name was already on the boat when we purchased it. It grew on us over the first year of working out the bugs and we chose to not go through the whole big name changing ritual with the gods of the sea.
We did personalize it a bit with replacing the graphics and adding a character of our own design.

A little interesting history behind the "Wave Dancer" character I created - an Inukshuk surfing on a piece of drift wood with a fishing pole:

Everything was done on the computer using Corel Draw and cut with our vinyl graphics cutter.
The drift wood was created from a scanned image of a 10,000 year old piece of wood retrieved scuba diving a submerged forest on down-state Lake Huron. It was obtained when our Son, my Wife and I assisted in finding and recovering parts of a submerged forest in 40 feet of water near Lexington, MI. for carbon dating by Oakland University.
The Surfer is an Inukshuk (pronounced 'in-ook-shook'), an Inuit symbol of the Arctic North. It means "likeness of a person" or "in the image of man". Traditionally, multiple inukshuk structures are used to guide or channel caribou into areas where Inuit hunters could easily harvest them. The inukshuk can also be found along Arctic coastlines as markers to open channels for navigation. I used an album cover from the greatest rock band ever "RUSH", as a reference in creating it (album "Test for Echo").
The fishing pole was added because it's one of the many things we enjoy doing on the boat.

That's our name story

Boats name is "Slow & Easy". Previous boat was a 30 BAJA Outlaw named "Comin in Hot", so we found this name fitting for our new slower cabin cruiser.

'Just Add Water'........that is the last ingredient we need to have a good time on our boat......

"Bow Movement" but that was a non-starter with the tall blond chick that lets me hang around her. She thought that King Neptune would be displeased so we presented in front of him "Kama Hele'" which so far has been acceptable. Kama Hele' is Hawaiian for "The Traveler"
