Still Pond Raft '09

I've read through the post and it sounds like it is going to be a great time, just have a few questions as a raft up newbie....
We would most likely show up on Friday sometime and, depending on the kids behavior (Kyle-6, Kendall-4, Luke-8months) either leave Sat evening or Sun sometime. So, is that a PIA to others to pull out of the raft up if we decide to leave on Sat? (Assuming that we are likely to be in the middle somewhere)
We're not sure about food? What meals should we plan to have a "covered dish"?
Are there any generally understood rules of conduct concerning running generators? We typically don't run our all night long, but I know others may want to. We're not really looking to get sandwiched btw two who run all night long.
I hope this dosen't come off as too picky...I'm just trying to ensure a good time for the family....you know the old saying..."If mama ain't happy....daddy's weekend is gona be crappy" or something like that....
Any other advice is much appericiated...we're looking forward to it!

We may come but I have to talk to the boss first...The 6 week old is becoming a regular old boater so that was my only concern. We are usually "outsiders" but depending on the weather we might head inside.

Leaving from the middle is not a problem. Being added to the middle is. So no issues there.

Bring food for your family and an appetizer to share. We will not have enogh room for a "covered dish" but I'm imagining a nice cocktail party on Stan's back deck:grin:.

No running gas generators all night long in a raft near me. Many do it. I will not have it. I don't run my genny all night either, people come to Still Pond (especially inside) for peace and quiet. Even a quiet generator is loud if it is the only thing running for miles. If it's so hot that we need air conditioning, we go back to the dock.

I hear you brother!

Man... do I have to leave my portable Briggs and Stratton genny and turkey fryer home again?

Thanks for the info....we're looking forward to it!
Most likely we're looking to be on the inside, unless the weather is going to be exceptionally calm.

I'd love to make this event, but I still have Grandma to take care of and long trips are out unless we can schedule someone in....which hasn't been easy lately.....that can properly take care of her...

...Maybe I'll find a boat to rent down here in Clearwater... I can get a pontoon boat somewhere... ...

Rent an older one.....you know....one with the bolts already loose.....that way you'll feel right at home.....oh...and don't forget to angle the antenna!!!!

.... show up those Atlantic City dorks...

Way too early for next year, and I really don't want to crash this thread...well..... maybe a little....but to borrow a hockey term, I think the Ultimate CSR midatlantic Rendezvous would be a "home 'n home".......say Wildwood NJ, and BIH combined......Maybe this winter we can have Tim and Ron put something together..........then the feathers would really go flying.......maybe Stan will even bring ziti....

In any event......Ya'll have a great time and I hope the weather cooperates!!!!

We raft off alot and have it down to a science. For anybody concerned about leaving the raft off, it is very easy to get you out, don't worry.

Here is one of our raft offs from last year at Still Pond, we peaked at 41 boats. Where we set up (see red dot on Tim's picture of the chart) you can step off your swim platform and you are standing in knee deep to waist deep water (depending on the tide), nice sandy bottom. The trick is for every third boat to have their front anchor out and about every sixth boat to have a stern anchor out, dinghys are used for this, makes it easy.

A good time will be had by all!!!

John- This must be a BRYC raft up. I.e., no boats taller than 12'. Look forward to seeing you. I may need you to give us a precise location on the inside to be close to the depth change so we can have the boats floating with our toes in the sand. My expertise is more in the outside.

Also, for you new guys... bring AT LEAST FOUR DECENT FENDERS and dock lines. And 1/6th of a stern anchor.

Tim,

I'm coming over Saturday morning, however I could probably come over in the little boat Friday after work and help get the raft off set up. Stan is familair with the "inside" also.

Oh yea, that was a BRYC raft off...........the Junior Fleet raft off we had in Dove's Cove about 5 years ago had more boats, go figure.........BRYC likes to have a good time.

John

LMAO!!

Got that right!
I know the 12' limit well. I grew up at BRYC. Was probably there from early seventies through early nineties. Good times. Great place. Very nice and cheap as dirt! Do you still have the coupon books?

WARNING:

My generator runs from the time I leave the dock until I get back to the dock ... just wanted to get that out in the open so Tim and others know to stay away from me. I would not want to impose into anyone's peace and quiet - but we like sleeping with the AC cranked (Parker's room does not have any air flow otherwise).

I am also like Tim in that I prefer not to have a gas genny cranking next to me.

I prefer to be on the inside - bow facing NE - in deep water.

I want the beer cold and the burgers hot.

I am planning on there being excellent weather for the entire weekend (no storms / no clouds / no gale warnings).

Some of you may be bummed that there will not be a full moon...sorry about the calendar mix up!

 Other than that I am not sure I have any other requirements - other than making sure everyone has an awesome time.

I am with Josh on the genny.... runs the whole time. So tell me where you want us... FYI...I plan to get there Friday late afternoon. Stan - What time does the margarita machine spin up?

Ryan,

We are going on the inside (I am lazy and don't want to move if a storm is around) and plan on getting there Friday if you want to try to hook up somewhere in the bay and run over together.

Josh

Can't wait, sounds like a blast! Plan to show early afternoon Friday after I pickup my new dink.

My boat's generator runs all of the time to keep everything charged. The outside sounds more fun and I need 5ft water.

The anchor has held 300,000lbs of boats in 25+knot winds so I'll gladly volunteer to anchor from the bow

For those who haven't been to a raftup before, it is strongly recommended to bring six (6) decent sized fenders. If we have any wake (it always seems to be that a handful of boats decide to rudly go by at speed) you'll really rest at ease with the extra two fenders!

Mike

Once one genny is running... what the hell! I'm not as picky about noise as I am about death. So... as far as I am concerned diesels can run all night. No gassers running all night (near me).

This is not intended to be a devisive issue, if you have a gas genny and you want to run it all night, you can raft-up during the day and anchor solo at night. There is plenty of room on the inside.

ALSO: It looks like we can use Mike to anchor (pun intended) the outside raft. Mike, finding you your five feet of water will not be a problem on the outside. If you've never been there before, call me on the radio when you get close and I'll show you were to go. I'm leaning inside at this point, but we'll have plenty of outsiders too! That's where the dinghies come in.
